Had one of these when I was a kid, found a PDF with the original patent diagrams, military spec sheets and did one up in CAD. Had the idea of modding an original but I didn't have the heart, so i took the long way around and made one. This is just the enclosure, waiting for parts to finish it up as the original was, and i'll print out another to mod. No guilt trips, keeping my old things nice and making new nice things from old diagrams.

dc38, Not a clue. I accidentally put that diagram in. I'll be making all the versions and a few of my own. Here's an example of a threaded bezel I did with red filter and storage for filters on the rear.

That yellow/blue combo screams fisher-price **(playskool) LOL. Just missing a red switch and bezel...what are you planning for the lighting engine/driver?

The colors are what i had laying around . I was going to do a 30 amp, 3s10p 18650 group for a battery bank and that's about as far as the thought process went. I've been into this a few weeks, getting the enclosure just right. So my knowledge of anything other than an incandescent/LED par36 like lamps was as far as i was going to go. I just wanted to add a giant battery bank to run my ICE water AC unit for camping and humid Adirondack summer days. Job I work in the summer is at a boat launch which has asphalt that hits 130 degrees on just sunny days. If you or anyone else has ideas on a decent lamp setup that doesn't get to warm and good for a disturbingly long run time i'm all ears.

Well...if you get a decent driver running Nichia 519A's, you'll get high CRI and decent runtimes. The 519 is touted to draw about 500mA to put out about 200 lumens. I don't know how well it will pair with a lensing system, but I want to assume that if the relay wasn't meant to be a switch, then it might've been a sliding focus system for the bulb.

At the 200 lumen level, you would theoretically see around 60 hours (maybe more if 3s10p, being 11.1V bucked down to 3Vish...) which would be plenty for any task light. You might even want to go with 21700's or 26650's for the higher power density, 5-7Ah per cell, plus they can handle high currents a bit better.

Relay on the diagram is for powering on lamp when power goes down. Just a simple on off toggle switch for the SYM 100.2

I was never very good at reading electrical diagrams...is it a blackout auto-on relay, or just designed to be controlled "remotely" when wired in?

Yeah it's just an NC (normally closed) relay. Hyper simple setup.

I just finished up a LED lamp mod that would have never fit the original case bc the lamp is too thick by 6-7mm and another 2-3 or so for the Nermak lantern lifepo4 battery. So i added 9mm to the face, clearing the battery, while taking some liberties with the lamp retainer adding 9mm to hold against the battery. Its a super clean build. In all reality it could be a drop in kit for all roflan lamps. Just have to replace the front faceplate as an all in one drop in, and you'll have a high intensity 5/6 degree beam at 6v 10w.

Located some spring loaded contact probes from electric collars (difficult to locate anything like this) and installed them today. The front lamp holder of the light is now drop in bolt down as the original was. Also did a battery test and got bright light for over 8 hrs (8 hrs 40 mins, give or take a couple minutes). This light will have 2 lantern batteries when i decide to finish the buss bars,, which will give roughly 16 hrs and High Intensity Beam at that. Lamp: LD-P36SAL10NLVC5 / Battery: Nermak 6.4v 12ah lantern.
