Are there still any good single-mode AAA lights on the market besides the Fenix E01? I know that the venerable single mode light has given way to today's gamut of multi-mode lights but I still have a soft spot for these.

Streamlight Microstream - great EDC pocket light. TerraLUX Lightstar80 - Penlight style, approx 60 OTF lumens, about 85 CRI, complete with rubber bite ring on end for handsfree use.

Those LightStar80's are pretty nice for the price. I picked several up on a BOGO special and keep them "strategically" placed around the house. They also make for a good, budget work light.

That's a good-looking light, Poppy. 60 lumens is great, but I was hoping to find something with a bit more run time.

I like that Rayus, but I'm not having much luck finding them for sell online.
Those old E05s are really great lights, but I never cared for the lens design.

Led lenser makes a few single mode lights, the P3 has 16 lumens, then the AFS version has 75 lumens. I have the lower one and it has been through hell and back (left in a parking for two week during winter) still works.. The focus light is another matter, but it is a single mode aaa sized. Tail mounted forward clicky. Tac light, 3xaaa single mode... Ya lenser needs new features in there lights... But ten year warranty ...

You can still buy an Arc AAA IIRC, and the venerable Peak Eiger can be had as strictly single mode.

I just got my Nitecore MT06 two AAA penlight. I know it is two mode, not one, but it is a really nice light. It always starts at the 32 lumen low, with the 165 lumen high a single click away. The reverse clicky is stiff enough that it will not turn on by itself, and it has a nice clip as well. All for $40 or less.

Never gave much thought to Led Lenser before. How are they on run times? Their website doesn't give much info.
I'm an old Arc fan and I still carry one. :)
I'm looking for simple, durable but inexpensive AAA key chain-style lights that can be given away as gifts I wanted to see if there were any other decent options out there besides the Fenix E01.

I always carry extra batteries, I have forgot this one on for 4 hours with a new battery and it was still running. The belt holster that comes with the P3 is actually decent and will fit almost all AAA single lights and some small AA lights as well (fenix E12) . BONUS IS the holster goes on without un-doing my/your belt. has a snap and velcrow.
I find most LED lights with low modes last pretty long... It likes alakaline better because if the lower draw... but I am no professional, do lights have feelings?

I think the new Ti2 is one mode - 80 lumens, $10 and change.
Sunwayman R01A, same price range as E01.

Illumn (formerly illumination supply) carries the Rayus C01 AAA light in both the 219A, and XP-G2.

I grabbed 2 fexix05 models while I could still get a few.
Single mode lights are getting harder to find, and I predict this will only get worse as emitters get more efficient and powerful.

My vote would be the Maglite Solitaire LED.
It's very slim, still looks great.
It head tight = off, rather than head loose = off for all the other torches.
The tint & CRI of the Luxeon C emitter is lovely. One of the nicest tints I've come across in any LED torch.
The variable focus also is superb. There are 3 distinct different focus position you can attain, which mean you can tailor it for close up work or reading. Or tighten the beam up to make it throw further than lights claiming double the lumen output.
