So I got this thing. The head is about the size of a soda can, but the beam it puts out is impressive. It’s brighter than the Weltool t12, but bigger. Not sure if it’s worth me keeping. I may put it up for sale at a reasonable price.

It is definitely a concentrated thrower. Medium is impressive with 4hrs of 600 meter throw.
 
The candela of this is interesting. I have a 1100 lumen Ultra Stinger LED which throws a pinpoint spot way off into the distance and it's rated much, much lower. 65K I think?

........and likely with good reliability and a reasonable price, w/great Support to boot!

I'm more interested in the 3 new Protac models myself, but I don't need more size or 'range'. That said, this looks fairly fit for purpose. It's great to have plenty of options for various needs.

It is interesting that the “stream” series does not have ten tap, but I also associate the 10 tap with a duty/edc light and this is more suited to a light you’d pull out of a bag for a spotlight need, so I don’t think a strobe is needed and it comes on in high Everytime anyways.
 
Lack of ten tap is not good, will probably keep me from getting one. I am glad that Streamlight is coming out with high candela lights.
 
No ten-tap? That's a killer for me. Being able to switch a light from single-high-output to admin multi-function is a game changer for me.

However, I'm glad to see it doesn't have that proprietary angled battery thing that I saw in the Protac 2.0.
 
Robin, thanks for showing this. That gives quite a clear view of the keyed terminal.
What strikes me as a total fail, which I wasn't aware of, is that the battery charging port/window cover is a simple friction fit. I had assumed that the cover was threaded and screwed open/closed. I don't like that at all. I'm also assuming that the HP has the friction fit cover.
There goes my interest in either Megastream which is a shame because the form and beam of the HP would be great. I could work something out (modify) with the keyed terminal to accommodate other cells, and to that I could just tape the charging cover in place (I'd never use it) but it seems like too much compromise at this stage.
The SF EDC1/2-DFT while not as powerful as the HP are very compact for what they are and super impressive performance wise.

I have a Protac HL6, great light.

I agree, the charging port cover should have had a small amount of threads because something I quickly noticed was that it could open by itself.

You can see the O-ring in the product pictures for the HP model as well:

Yes, I noticed the o-ring but I assumed it was threaded at the rear of the cover ring.
Accidentally coming open is a definite fail and clear indication that it should be threaded for a secure close. In wet conditions that could be a serious concern or risk rather than just an inconvenience.
 
I haven't actually held one of these things, but it's possible the O-ring has a matching groove and it takes some force to open. At least that's what I'd do.

Nope, it's just a regular round one. The biggest problem is that the motion to open it aligns with that of pressing the tail switch.

That’s just silly.
Streamlight had a great opportunity with this light and totally failed (in my opinion).
While I wouldn’t use the onboard charging feature I could happily use the light if it had a secure method (threaded) of retaining the closed and sealed position. I also don’t like the keyed terminal excluding standard button tops but I understand that it’s a necessity to orientate the battery charging terminal with the port in the light. I could likely modify that terminal anyway. Having to secure the port cover by taping the body is the point where it’s all too much.
If they release a Megastream HP or similar without the insecure charging port (and keyed terminal), I’ll be interested.
In previous posts on this thread it’s been questioned what for and why would someone want a light like this. For me it’s simple, i like and use various lights and a relatively compact single cell light with the beam characteristic of the HP would be great. Like a bigger (and more powerful) SF EDC1/2-DFT or what the Malkoff HD 18650 XT should be (at a similar size to the HP).
 
Wow, the way that the users' grip can slide open the charging port with tailswitch activation, what the heck.

All they would have had to do was to locate that assembly near the tail instead of the head, and then that couldn't happen at all. :-/
