Unfortunately no. My other cars have dashcams. This particular one is new to us and we’re awaiting a cam to be installed.

If you worked with industrial automation systems as I do, your apprehension level would likely be even higher than it is;-)

The equipment doesn't typically 'attack' people as below, but it is far from infallible; any more than humans cannot be infallible. All that's different is who gets sued when things go sideways. Wait 'til you see a system shut down abruptly because its laser safety scanning system suddenly picks up a piece of a cob web where it shouldn't be. Operator was a little freaked out. Took me a while to find that one.

This is not a for or against EV post. It's simply a statement.

This is simply history repeating. There once was a time when the horseless carriage would not start on cold mornings. Meanwhile the "uber reliable" horse and buggy was ready to go in all kinds of weather.

As a kid I used to see air compressors and generators running while hanging from crane booms all weekend in cold weather so that on Monday they'd be working. The super reliable ability to crank up an ICE in really cold weather requires a block heater in some areas. Ever see a neighbor's pickup truck with an orange 3 prong recepticle sticking out of the grill?

Like the horseless carriage, the source of fuel is a stumbling block and will be for a while longer.

Good topic though too bad Mr. Ed has to intervene. Some off-topic folks can't resist getting into political/idealogical/personal wrangles which threathen to, or succeed in, getting otherwise good threads shut down.

Title aside, aren't other EVs having this issue, not just Teslas?

EV technology has a number of downsides, largely limitations of current Li-ion technology. Flashlight folks know (or should know) about temperature range for charge/discharge of Li-ion. Pre-heating battery takes energy. I've read that real rapid charging requires heating up to +60C, not sure the extent this is currently implemented.

For the present, it seems logical that EVs should gain more traction (pun intended) in more moderate climates first.

I've been getting emergency alerts on my phone all week about the extreme pressure on the electrical grid due to the cold. They are actually asking us to turn off heaters and appliances. They even say use the microwave to cook and not the stove. Not to charge EV's or even plug in block heaters during the day. :rolleyes: I guess they would rather let us freeze to death than drive to work. If on average 1 in 70 vehicles here are EV's how is the grid supposed to operate when all vehicles are EV?

Funny thing is the city is always bragging about their electric buses but not one was on the road in the last 2 weeks..... actually I only saw one EV on the roads at all and it was being towed by a gasoline powered vehicle:LOL:
 
I see many of them here in nyc/long island, like a lot. cuz most drive short distance a day, have houses with garages where they charge them overnight, many come from NJ, which is just over the river. So for our area EVs are great, even in cold nights they are in garages overnight, so no issue with cold charging. but in less dense environment, when you have to rely on outdoor charge, they are not ideal.
 
I still want me a Tesla but ima tech guy. I prefer tech rather than old school. Batteries will improve trust me.
 
There was folks who thought a computer will never replace a type writer. Embrace change look forward to improvement
