Curious if there has been any good progress to this of late? Man oh man am I getting impatient for this thing! SO HYPED! I've already spent like 2 solid hours imagining having it.

Unfortunately the fix was more involved than just tightening up tolerances. The machinist had to write a new program to avoid the issue and change the way he was planning on running it, to do what was originally two operations as one op. He hasn't cut the new heads yet (as of wednesday), I'm waiting to hear how it goes and will update everyone as soon as he does.

I got a good news email this morning that that 2nd run of the heads (after the first runs were scrapped) is finally complete. There's some finish work to be done on the threads before they're sent off for anodizing. Once the heads are at the anodizer we'll be back on our original plan (albeit greatly delayed) of grinding the glass and then cutting the bezels.




You guys have been super patient with the delays and I hugely appreciate that. I'll post another update as soon as the heads are being anodized and I have a timeline from them

As a quick update, heads are at the anodizer now.

Anodizing is complete and the heads are back at the machinist, they look great!

The jigs for grinding the glass are complete as well and the glass windows (lenses) are also at the machinist so now its glass grinding time, then cutting and threading the stainless bezels

Glass is being ground now, had to get a coarser grit wheel. I'll post a more thorough updates once I have the results of the new wheel

Getting close to the final countdown. Approximately a third of the glass is ready, hopefully they'll be done this week. After thats it's just cutting and threading the bezels which should be the easiest part of this whole thing, and then we're done[FONT=Segoe UI Historic, Segoe UI, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]![/FONT]

Yep! As of last week there were only 5 left to make!

The tooling dulled quicker than expected cutting the bezel so machinist was waiting on some new ones, and ordered a GD expensive fancy polymer based optics cleaner that's used for telescope optics to make sure everything is spotless and free of dust before shipping.

We're at the final countdown!
