I took Vinh's advice on making a list of lights I like and want, and waited some time to see if the desire for any lights went away. I fought the urge for 3 months, found myself looking at Vinh's DHT treatment of the D25Cvn on what seemed to be daily basis. Finally caved and ordered the D25Cvn DHT last night with a Nichia 219C LED. This is my first time getting a Nichia 219C LED. Vinh said it had more output compared to the XPG2 option and from my understanding it has much better (neutral) color rendition. Are there any downsides to the Nichia 219C?

I have an M43 with 219C 80+ cri. I love the tint and output. I've found the color rendition to be very good and out of all my lights I feel it's the best tint at 5000k. In the video below the last light is the M43 with 10508 optics:

I have found there to be no downsides to the nichia 219C in my particular light.

Looks good! Thank you for sharing! Hopefully the light I get is around 5k tint, I'm not too familiar with the CRI numbers, but I've been reading that they also come in 90+ CRI I guess just truer color reproduction? But one question.. How on earth have you managed to acquire so many Fiat Lux lights?? LOL :ooo:

So I was just out playing with, umm I mean checking the back yard for threats with my Toolvn and SL2Cvn. Love them both but they get hot so fast on turbo the SL2Cvn triple especially.

Is there a small vn light that does better with heat or is it just something you have to deal with when it comes to the little lights?

At work as an AV technician I EDC a Eagletac SX25L3 MT-G2 on my belt. I am trying to work out if an upgrade to the XHP50 version is going to give me much more punch in the hotspot.

Unfortunately Vinh can't do a lot with this light so I am prepared to use stock.
I like the tint of the MT-G2 but I have had it for over 12 months so as a flashaholic it must be upgraded.
I have looked at other lights but I wear this in a 5 star Hilton hotel so any bigger would be too much. The SX25L3 bezel down does not stand out much.
If I could get K60vn performance out of this form factor I would be very happy (for at least 12 months).

It looks like (from their website http://www.eagletac.com/html/sx25l3/specs.html) the XHP50 version has higher lumen and lux (throw) for the same run time. Win-win situation!

SG Hall is correct and that is still a bad *** little light with Eneloops. It was the first light Vinh modded for me along with the BK-FA01 that started this crazy addiction. Vinh told me not to waste the money on the BK-FA01, but I did anyway and I ended up with a super narrow 800+ meter pencil beam. The LD02vn (Vinh's nightmare light) is my favorite light followed by the T6vn. I go back and forth between this addiction and smart phones and just got back into lights after a several month break. The T6vn pulled me back in along with all of you nice folks.

Lumens = heat, and mass = heat sink.

It's just physics.

So, based on the laws of physics, our choices are:

1. Small pocketable light with lots of lumens, multiple emitters. That must be used on lower settings, with the reserve to blast lumens for short look-arounds. Nothing wrong with this approach.

2. Big honking, heavy light with lots of lumens that can blast away for long periods of time. Nothing wrong with this approach either.

However, due to our greedy human nature, if we get a bigger light with more heat sinking mass, we load it with a dozen emitters and still have a heat problem. But, these are fun problems to have!

Heat will always be an issue, even standard lights (take a fenix pd35 for one example) can not run at 1000lm for that long, even bigger lights like the tk75(2600lm version) can run 20m before step down, the 2900lm 15m before step down.

So another way, with say drivervnx2, you can set a mode group to suit your needs, be it 15% or 30% etc etc and run high enough outputs for longer duration's(extra flexibility). Mass/heat sinking is the key as said for long runs at high outputs:)

Hah! He laughs at your puny laws! They are for mere mortals!

Soon he'll be coming out with Maxwell'sDemonVN, which will take the excess heat and use it to power a tiny thermocouple generator that recharges your battery.

Pocket-sized, stays cool, and runs three times as long.

Also comes in Dark Heat Treated version for looks.

ok. So pocket sized will be atleast 3 times less lumen than big lights. If u like small then go for it. Lol. I am all about big lights, big lumen and big throw. Take care.
