I have a XTAR BC8 charger I bought a couple of years ago. It's well kept and used maybe once a month at most. All of the sudden, it seems the green full charge lights never come on. If they do, they go back to red after a bit. I tried to charge six, old, Eneloop Pros and they never charged fully, even after leaving them in the charger overnight. I figured they were just kaput. Yesterday, I got a 16-pack of new Eneloop AA cells. I figured I’d top ‘em off before using them. Same thing, though I had a few green lights, which turned back to red. This time I got out my old La Crosse BC700 Alpha charger and put in four of the cells. They instantly registered as full. All the cells did. Yet the BC8 charger still shows all red lights. Is this charger broke?

Oh, FYI, the cells got warm in the BC8 but not hot. Everything seemed fine except the indicator lights stay red. Please advise.

Are the red light indications you refer to 'flashing' or 'solid / continuous'?

I have no idea what's going on, but did note that there's both a "slow flashing" and "solid red" state documented, and they have different meanings, but you didn't note which one you are seeing.

I have no knowledge about the charger, and very little about NiMH cells so can't help, but that info might help those who do have such knowledge.

Solif red. I've never gotten a flashing llight, red, green, or otherwise. .
do you perhaps have older wiring that is unable to sustain consistent power to your charger/brick?

besides a possible top-off charge, I can't think of a reason (besides battery or charger defect) that would cause a charge restart...

Cool. If you ever do see it flashing red, ...
