One of my college professors told the class of Chevy's marketing failure with the Nova in Latin America: Nova means "it doesn't go" in Spanish. (Years later, I learned this was an urban legend, thanks to the Internet.)

I absolutely love my Malkoff M30, but I can't help being amused whenever I think that the (Latin) Mal + (Germanic) Koff = Bad Head.

Another unfortunately named product line that makes me smile is UltraFire batteries and chargers.

What are some others?

Its a two word phrase, "No" "va" - "doesn't" "go". That car's unfortunate name, has been a joke for centuries...too bad.

I admit I know squat about lights at this point, I am learning. But I do giggle when I see refrences to lights customized by Milky Spit, as a side note I do know it is his screen name and that he does SUPER work.

Hello, after shadow

... I can't help being amused whenever I think that the (Latin) Mal + (Germanic) Koff = Bad Head.

I'm sorry, but the german word for head is Kopf ...

What amuses me is the inflationary use of the suffix -fire by various Chines brands:
-Trustfire: ok, that might work
-Spiderfire: not recommended by PETA :shakehead and has anybody seen burning spiders? (except some scenes in Arachnophobia) and burning chitin stinks (Just burn one hair  )
-Sacredfire: OMG, we're getting a bit metaphysical here :eek:oo:

Best regards,
Wolfgang

Sacredfire is just plain hilarious! Darktort always reminds me of some dork nick for an RPG idiot fan.

But really, the funniest thing in the flashlight world is the precious Chinglish! Caution: STRONG LIGHT!!! That's priceless.

Besides the elementary particle "Quark" also means curd cheese in German.
In addition, it is old German slang for nonsense. :D

An older Luxeon I/III light updated with an Seoul Semiconductor (SSC) P4 emitter is often referred to as "Seoul-mated". Milky subsequently named one of his KL1 mods the Seoulmator. Surefire replaced the Luxeon-based KL1 with the Cree-based KX1/KX2, and Milky's similar mod to the updated heads were named the Creemator.

I wonder if they got ribbed for that when they were at the show in Germany.

The XXX-Fire crap is completely unstoppable... Now they've come up with the all-new Venusfire!
I think that predates the appearance of Uniquefire. The idea of a unique *fire brand is hilarious in of itself.
