2006 was back in the day when it was really cool to own a HDS U60 and an Arc AAA on the keychain for backup.

Haha 15 years later and my usual EDC is a HDS 250 and a Fenix E01 on my keychain.

I was just reminiscing about when it was only 99 bucks to buy into the HDS game back in 2013?
those are cool archive searches.. fwiw, they are all clickies.. you can still buy Two Novatacs, for under $99. IF clicky UI is good enough for you..

The Novatacs were great lights, and I still love their look.
Nice marketing too:

James Williams (martial artist and from the Surefire Insitute) used to use and recommend the Surefire L1 then switched to the Novatacs before agin switching to the Surefire E1B and later designing his own lights with CRKT.

Here he is with the Novatacs:

But the HDS lights were/are of course way much better, and in my opinion worth paying more for even at 50 bucks.

BTW I'll take a Clicky any day over a Rotary, especially if I'm doing a hardcore activity like climbing, caving or a "specialized situation" like taking a shower.:poke:

As for the shower, twist the tail on any light while in there and eventually moisture will get in... including the Executive. Then it takes a good deal of time for this to corrode the switch (not just the Rotary contacts, but the actual switch). It isn't an immediate catastrophic failure. It will take months. Something akin to changing the battery under water... only a moron would do that (one who listens to the Soggy Bottom Boys). If it isn't opened up and left to dry, then expect problems down the road. If one has to do it to get out of a situation, then do it... but deal with it later by drying it out. A bit like drinking water out of a cattle tank to avoid dehydration death in the desert and give you some time to live and make it a few more miles... and get to the hospital to be treated before you get rhabdomyolysis and die anyway. The Rotary can be used in the shower... just don't use the Rotary function, and it will handle it just as well as an executive. Gotta know your tools and their limitations... but I guess this is why there are now labels on car batteries saying not to drink the contents and "don't eat" on silica packets in dehydrated food packs.

Word. Don't eat your Rotary!

What if I need to avoid starvation death in the desert and eating the Rotary will give me some time to live and make it a few more miles... and get to the hospital to have it removed?

There is plenty to eat in the desert if one just knows where to look and isn't squeamish...

A couple of my favorite lights from that era... The NDI and Pentagon. The death of the incandescent followed rather quickly... except for SF... they hung on to incan like a bad case of drug resistant syphilis.

So I requested my 3 LIMITED orders be canceled two weeks ago. Henry misunderstood and canceled only one. Now he's out of town and can't refund. So I'm still waiting... AND I'm being forced to eat the paypal fees.

This is some of the worst customer service I've experienced in years.

When i check out this: https://www.hdssystems.com/Products/Custom/

I find:
Please note: orders containing LIMITED edition products cannot be cancelled and cannot be returned for a refund. Please make sure your order is correct before completing it.

Therefore it is kind of 'fair' what Henry is doing. I am quite sure when he is back the other two orders will be cancelled too! I was many times in contact with Herny for different reasons, and I never had the feeling his service is bad... But it is only my personal experience.

Btw. What LED options did you order?

Yes, it also said 4 weeks for completion, and now it's been more than twice that long. That's not right.

Had my order been completed in the timeframe Henry suggested, I wouldn't have had to cancel.

That is a "normal" thing for special HDS offers. The BeCu, Stainless Steel, and also the 18350/18500 tubes took or takes longer than advertised. Also the Special LED run that was on order a few month ago will take longer. That is HDS. I am also waiting for my order, but I am patient...
If you want stuff immediately than HDS is not what you are looking for.

Just because it's "normal" doesn't mean it's OK.

I was willing to wait 4 weeks. In fact, I waited 8 weeks — TWICE as long as advertised. And now it's been 10 weeks, and Henry isn't able to say when they'll be finished.

I'm not complaining about some 1-day-late Amazon delivery or some crap I ordered from China.

Just some friendly advice, but when you post on CPF, you represent the face of HDS. Better to keep your posts professional, and more importantly relevant to the forum/brand. I believe most people don't expect nor want to see sickening videos of decapitated snakes moving around when they visit this forum.
