Where did all the oldtimers go.

They might have found something new in their life. I am not even close to oldtimers, but right now I am more with firearms which are way more expensive (in general). And when I need to chose between a new flashlight and, for example, ammo purchase I pick the latter.

As a result I enter here way more rarely. Someone may abandon this idea at all. At some point you understand that you cannot purchase all the flashlights in the world. And if you see something new it is not a huge advance from what you already own.

Nevertheless, I have purchased a light recently, but it is entirely from the other world: Vinh's modded Olight BaldrVN Pro.

Can't go home again, no matter how hard you try.... or want to. :(
Learned this years ago during a pilgrimage to the old home town knowing better and to Jack's complete lack of surprise a place I'd not been in some 20 years and maintained no connections to wasn't the same.

I still check in multiple times a day. And remember, the definition of an old timer is one who was a member when the Red Shoes event took place. 2003 give or take if I remember correctly. That gets me to thinking, did the Red Shoes badge/icon survive the software and ownership change? If Sasha is still checking in from time to time, maybe you can relate what that event was all about?

So great to see nfetterly popping in.

Someone elaborate but seems like CPF owner Greta wrote about liking some expensive shoes and members pitched in to help her pay the sizable sum for them? Sounded like community coming together to help a person; nice.

I was around, but didn't know why members were donating for the mod to buy shoes, so I declined. I doubt the icon has survived the system changes.

Once I sold my custom lights to other members I kinda lost interest. My light needs can be met with all the commercial stuff now. Then,,, not so much. The only custom stuff left is a Mr. Bulk Space Needle II. ( at least I think that is the version.)
