I upgraded my old surefire G2 with a malkoff drop in the L/L variety. I added the b65 battery kit and extension. As well as a mcclicky tailcap upgrade. It does a fine job.

L-R: BOSS 35, Tiny Nugget, bored C2 w/ Oveready L3N, GT Nano triple conversion, Okluma DC1, Hoku, McLuxIII PD, HDS 200lm hcri Clicky, Tool AA hcri, i3p, Tana triple E2 and a sweet little brass AAA whose name escapes me. And two Pak lites, because emergency lanterns... (both 5mm hcri's)

I'm looking at this thread on a tiny phone and at first I saw a bunch of vibrators with all kinds of spent batteries, lol. Honest question/wondering/hunch
: I'll bet a lot of sex toys light up enough to be measured in lumens.

Yep, that is indeed my bedside. Like I mentioned, things are a little rough at the moment. It's temporary "accommodation", and the circumstances that have displaced us from our house have prolonged somewhat. I have since insulated the space for the sake of my little family, and installed a fire, and we are quite comfortable. The kids love it, for sure.
Where we live the sky is pretty clear, there's virtually no pollution and we're a decent way from any cities. It's good for the soul - and just right for a torch- (flashlight) lover too.

Jetbeam Ti head on a custom body with a LR44 battery in it. The Ti is broken and only allows moonlight mode
1AA Mini-Mag with Nite Ize 3-LED drop-in. The battery is an AA size 3V lithium primary that I scavenged from the battery waste bin at work
Custom light made for a sub-C cell but it has an adapter in it with a 1/2 AA size 3V lithium primary that I scavenged
1AA Mini-Mag with a HQRP drop-in meant for the Solitaire light and an AA 3V lithium primary

Yes, I have a lot of those 3V lithium primary batteries and I'm just trying to put them to good use. The two lights on the left put out moonlight levels of light due to the battery in the Mini-Mag being nearly completely depleted while the two on the right put out about 50 lumens each.

Thank you for the welcome! I am having trouble figuring out how this all works . . . forums are a new thing for me . . . old dog and new tricks and all that . . . "digital immigrant" . . .

I must have replied to one of yours by mistake. I thought I was saying what I did in response to the photo of a flashlight on a large rock outside. I was admiring your lamp with the pressure valve that helps control the light, but my comment was meant as a joke, and I guess I delivered the punchline in the wrong place.

I am sorry to hear about your housing situation, and circumstances beyond that. I certainly would have enjoyed it as a kid, but as an adult I feel the stress too much. I'll try to find the rock bedside table and reply again with a link, if I can figure out how to do that. [edit: it is post #4, from rollerboyse.]

Not that I can recall, but it would be environmentally friendly. Nature can handle the "recycling" quite well.
While you could vary the lumens by adding or subtracting bugs, I don't think it would have much in the way of candela.

Would be supercool if the average number collected in a mayonnaise jar by kids in 1974 emitted the same lux as the average firefly mode on flashlights in 2023.
