Malkoff AAA Flashlight? Now with poll.

Re: Malkoff AAA Flashlight? My most used light is the ARC AAA on my keychain. Very sturdy, bare minimum form factor, long run times, minimum usable light output... would LOVE to see Gene do his version of that.

Why so much hype around Malkoff?

    Because I'm a user, not a collector.

    Challenging Headlamp recommendation

Absolutely true about the more floody ZL lights- had one and returned it for poor real-world performance. However, the "H600w Mk II 18650 XM-L2 Headlamp Neutral White" has a more better throwy beam, and works well in this role, IMO. Love mine! And, on sale at $69 right now, (though is...

    Firefighting Lights

I'm still puzzling over the requirement for "intrinsically safe" while working an active fire. Hasn't the worst already come to pass at that point? The price you pay for not triggering an explosion or starting a fire is that IS lights are always ALOT less bright than non-IS lights of a...

    Recommend a Method/Product to OVER illuminate Under a 10x10 Easy-Up 8 hours @ a Time

Geez, can you guys over-think things or what? :nana: This is what lanterns were invented for. Try the Lanterns subforum here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?90-Lanterns Or google "CORE 500 Lumen CREE LED Battery Lantern" for a simple example that costs $20 delivered...

Looking for a flashlight for self defense in case of home intrusion

We use lights to see with, and other things to protect ourselves and our loved ones. You need "other things".

New Guy, how to convert my Surefire E2D incandescent to LED

I am pleased with my VME Malkoff Valiant Concepts Head which allows use of the Malkoff dropin of your choice. Single output at various levels, or the three-level M361-LMH Low-Med-High in neutral, comes to mind. Expensive, compared to a single dropin, but makes a good light great, IMO.

Malkoff dropin for Surefire 6P- help me decide!

Yeah, but then you have that spare body just sitting there. Before you know it, it'll start calling to you... softly at first, then it becomes increasingly more insistent. "Make me whole again!" Like the ghost of flashlights past. You're probably saner than me, but it just drives me nuts...

    Malkoff "Hound Dog"

Re: Hound Dog MD4 About marking the "mode": Try an industrial paint pen to make witness marks on the head and body. The UMark 100P industrial paint marker is a good choice, as is the Uchida DecoColor pen. Both are oil-based, adhere to anything (alcohol prep first), come in a bunch of useful...

    Light for Doctor's profession

Welch Allyn now makes plenty of exam and procedure lights using LEDs. Given how many (if not most) of their medical work lights are LED, somehow the "true color rendition" of their Halogen and Xenon lighting products doesn't seem quite as important a selling point anymore.

I lost an MT06, now looking for an EDC penlight with "the strongest pocket clip".

Re: I lost an MT06, now looking for an EDC penlight with "the strongest pocket clip". I think the design of the clip matters a lot more than the material. My Sebenza has a titanium clip, and it functions exceedingly well.

Any SF handheld light specs closest to the Insight WMX200?

The Insight WMX200 you listed outputs both visible and IR light, and it runs on AA batteries. It's also weapon mounted via a built in rail grabber mount, and accepts remote pressure switches. That's probably why it's so expensive. Not dissimilar to the Surefire Vis/IR lights in features or...

looking for a light bulb to use as small heater powered by 12VDC

I'm no electrician, but would recommend getting the appropriate sized pre-wired "bi pin socket" assembly and fabricate a doo-hickey to make your thing-a-ma-bob work. You'll probably go through a bunch of those bulbs with that use, since they don't last as long when they're allowed to get too...

    Why bore a surefire?

A this point, I'd never bore a Surefire- I'd rather live with the limitations they have, and put the money into updated designs that do what I need them to do from the outset. Boring surefire lights now is mainly to update legacy designs for improved functionality, or just for the sentimental...
