    3 Piece Rock Bands

Rush is kind of cheating, because Geddy Lee alone is a three-piece band.

    Reliable flashlight brands

Rock-solid long-time brands: Fenix and Thrunite, zero problems ever Promising newer brands: Acebeam and Convoy, no troubles to date Disappointments: Zebralight, Olight, FourSevens, Peak If I could only have one light in a true disaster, it would be Fenix TK-75. No contest.

Really? I've only owned two Zebras, both of which died in less than a year. Not from any kind of abuse, they just stopped working. Never bought another after that.

Those tunes that get stuck in your head

I like it when synthesizers are used unapologetically to make sounds that only they can make, as opposed to imitating horns or drums or whatever. We already have horns and drums.

Got this one stuck in my head for like a month.

Your favorite brand of LED flashlights

I'm a longtime fan of Fenix and Thrunite, and have recently been impressed by Acebeam. They are offering well-built, solid-feeling flashlights in a wide choice of materials and emitters, including high-CRI. I appreciate the mix-and-match approach. Popular brands I have *not* liked include...

whats features mean the most to you in flashlights?

Dead-simple UI. I will never, ever buy an Anduril flashlight. It's not enough that the most common mode group be simple: the other mode groups must not exist. Even just knowing that they're there is stressful and offensive. If I give a light to a toddler, it should not come back ten minutes...

What is your overall favorite flashlight for each of these battery types:

    Single 21700, multi-emitter: Acebeam EC65, V54 modded to 4 x 519a Single 21700, single-emitter: Thrunite T2, V54 modded to GT-FC40

What’s your all time favorite flashlight?

For me it's the Fenix TK-75. It's not fancy or exotic, and it's low CRI, yet it's the workhorse I reach for again and again. Plenty of runtime with 4 x 18650, plenty of light with 4 x Cree XHP70, a good flood/throw mix, and rock-solid build.

Neat household MacGyver tricks you've learned

A plant sprayer, 91% rubbing alcohol, and Bic lighter make a nice flamethrower. It's particularly useful when you get a fast-moving fly inside. I've found that the flame is short-lived enough that it won't damage paint, but YMMV and definitely not recommended near drapes.

if i replace them weekly are alkines safe?

It seems to have more to do with manufacturing variability than age. Last year I bought a bunch of Duracell AAA cells (expiration date March 2028) and put them in a plastic battery organizer. A few days ago I needed three AAAs for a remote, and found that one of the ones I grabbed had leaked...

    Low temperature 16340 battery?

The only note of caution is that LiFePO4 cells have a lower nominal voltage (3.2V) than standard Li-ion (3.7V). Under load a LiFePO4 cell will have more like 3.0V, which would trigger the under-voltage cutoff for many standard LED drivers.
