    SUREFIRE EDCL-2T

Since the EDCL-2T is designed for a single 3 volt cell is the 16650 4.2 V safe for the led and driver?

    Single mode light find

I prefer to spend a little more $$ and get gear that I know will stand the test of time. For a single mode light there is nothing that beats a SureFire 6P with a Malkoff single-mode dropin like an M61 (W, N, L, or whatever you preference is). Total cost is ~70 bucks. 6P bodies can be had on...

Is Streamlight just not a light to bet your life on? Broke twice now in the same spot

Looking at your pics a little closer I am suspicious that your example might be a fake - not sure, but check out these differences in the label. YOUR LIGHT: Light in another image found online: The font, TM and R logos are different. Could be authentic just something I noticed.

Is Streamlight just not a light to bet your life on? Broke twice now in the same spot

I have several of these TLR-1s and have never had this issue. TLRs are really well-respected in the LEO community as others have stated. I will say though that the SF X-300U-B is also an excellent light, and it is not all that much more $$ if you can find it on sale. The battery door is...

    SUREFIRE EDCL-2T

Could you elaborate on this a bit? How do you think it knows which mode to be in without a resistor in the tail cap? I was actually hoping it would be a resistor-type switch with a higher ohms so that it would be *MAYBE* compatible with my current LX2 body....

    2XCR123 vs 1X16650 Run Time - What's the Deal?

The Malkoff E2 Super Throw head has a runtime of 20 minutes on two lithium primary CR123 batteries. Switch over to a single 16650 lithium-ion and it will last 60 minutes, roughly 3 times the amount of time. Given that both battery setups contain about 9 watt-hours (3000 mah x 3 volts = 9 wh)...

1200 lumens from 2xCR123 is WAY too power hungry. If it manages any sort of regulation the runtime will be 10 minutes. Chances are it will drop immediately to 600 something ish after 30 seconds. The whole thing seems silly. I do like the TIR lens though, wonder what the Lux at 1 meter is.

    SUREFIRE EDCL-2T

The description says 15 lumen low and the spec sheet says 5. No wonder we are confused.

I charge mine to 4.2 since that is what my charger does. I figure I lose some capacity but the cells will last longer. Never noticed it practically speaking.

Yeah, 16650 is slightly thicker. No guarantee they will fit. I'm betting they WILL fit physically (most of my E-bodies work with them) but there will be some issue with the voltage and brightness will be altered.

The resistor itself even though it's only 10 ohms will drop the output considerably. From what I've read in various threads, using a 750 lumen Malkoff E2S (similar in output to the Tactician) the output with the LX2 resistor in line will be about 250. My guess of 7 lumens turning into 2 is just...

What would be really cool is if this head works with an LX2 body and switch. This set up would give 4 distinct modes, probably 700 lumens / 250 lumens with head tightened and with the loose head 7 lumens / 2 lumens. Ohhhhh baby..

    Surefire tactician

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this question, but given SF's history, probably NOT. None of the newest E series lights work properly with 16650 batteries. And for all we know the battery tube might be too tight. You and I are in the same boat, if it does work with 16650 I'm in. Until...

Does the 10 ohms resistor with that large current coming from the E2ST have any heat / longevity issues? Being designed for under 1000 mA originally I have hesitated to use that tail-cap with my E2ST which pulls 2.1 amps.
