    Old torch from the fayre!!

Hi Willoughby Sorry for the late reply, I'm so sorry mate but the wife has an antiques and bric a brac stall here in Sheffield, she asked me to find some stuff to put on her stall and this torch went, it sold just a couple of weeks ago too or I could have brought it back home! :( It's strange...

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Thanks for the advice Benchiew, I did think that with just two batteries the problem would be much lessened but you're right, if it only takes one to go down then there is still a danger then  When I tested the voltage of the two batteries that came yesterday (the ones that should...

Making a torch take different batteries!

Hi all I have a Sky Ray cree torch that I 'won' on fleabay from China, originally I was using the wrong batteries as no instructions came with it :shakehead I thought it took 2x CR123s but they were very sloppy so I cut some card to roll into a tube and slid it in, the CR123s went in nicely...

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Hi GM Your info sounds like excellent advice regarding the testing and safety procedure but all this has gotten me a little scared, I think i'll just use it with two cells and not bother with the extension :shakehead Cheers, John :)

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Hi I have two Trustfire 2400Mah batteries and as it happens (purely by luck!) two of the batteries that I bought are exactly the same! The ones I have have only had one charge, I read somewhere that the Trustfire are an OK Budget battery (or did I imagine it??).. This is the charger that I...

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Could that be that dodgy?, would I be better buying another pair of the same make/capacity? Is it the charging or actual using them that's bad?? (or both!) Sorry but i've only recently had an ankering for something with more power and didn't realise that it could be dangerous (I think you mean...

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Hi BC I wasn't looking for anything in particular, I just fancied a bright lamp to go in the collection (well, brighter than the Fenix T1!!).. Anyhow, the torch arrived and i'm very impressed with the output but it seemed there is an extension available to take 3x 18650 batts so i've ordered...

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Thanks for the warning regarding imbalanced cells, i'll check the regularly with the meter (the output too of the charger!).. I'll keep an eye out for an extension for it then  Hi Benchiew, I had a look in the sales but had no idea what I was reading about (a bit of a thickie I am :o )...

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Thanks gm I read that VAT is applied to anything over £15, import duty over £135 (it was on the Government website!).. Below £15 I don't think it's liable to any sort of duty  The auction listed the torch kit as "Item location:UK, United Kingdom" Cheers, John :)

Ebay win... what have I bought???

Hi all I must confess to not being terribly well versed in all the flashlamps that are available but I bid on and won this XM-l T6 (x3) lamp from fleabay  I 'won' one from Fleabay for £14.49 but never received it (I presume the seller wanted more :duh2: ) The seller claims 3800...

    Repaired my dead Romisen!!!

Hi all I bought a Romisen XP-g R5 a while ago but it packed in fairly quickly :( I stripped it today to find a wound coil behind the reflector that looked to be overheated, losing the lacquer shielding, it was loosely wound and I could move it about a bit so I got the wife to get some nail...

    Old torch from the fayre!!

Sorry, i've no idea of age but it was made when stuff was done 'proper'!! The brass battery tube is soldered to the brass head then the whole was chromed! To fit the batteries in, the switch has to be unscrewed then replaced when the batt's were in place!! There is a bakalite distance piece...
