Thanks for the pics. So are you saying the white disc will not work on the rotary, or it may work if you assemble it carefully? I’ve always wondered as my rotary button has a little more travel than I prefer.

Interest Thread: HDS Stainless Steel CLICKY

I’m in for 3-4 stainless steel Clicky tailcaps if we can get them in black. And if we can do an 18650 Clicky in stainless steel, I’m in for one of those.

The lack of user serviceability of the boot is the big sore thumb of the rotary design. The guy who recently demonstrated the removal of the tailcap and PCB had my attention because someday this is something we’ll have to deal with ourselves.

Thanks for this info. How is the PCB removed from the tail cap? Does it just unscrew?

If you could provide some description of the removal and replacement of the circuit board inside the tail cap, that would be great.

    HDS Company Question

Can you maybe describe the procedure to swap out the switch boot? There’s a tutorial in the archives about how to remove the tail cap… However, there’s a circuit board that then needs to be removed, and also reinstalled, and indexed properly when reinstalling. That is the bit that seems a...

    HDS Company Question

These are my favorite lights but I buy them expecting that some day this company will cease to exist and I’ll be on my own. I prefer clickies because I can replace the switch boot myself if needed. I also dropped $500 on a rotary because it’s a great light but I had to accept the possibility...

Interest Thread: HDS Stainless Steel CLICKY

Me too. I think this fandango may have got started with my request for stainless caps in the main thread. I’m 18650-only now, and I’m pretty sure this run will be CR123 like all the other special metal runs. But I like the extra heft the stainless cap brings to my 18650 rotary so I’d buy 3-4...

I don’t know but it keeps me up at night lol I love my one Rotary, and I’d have more rotaries if I knew I could do it myself (I’m historically a Clicky guy, see my avatar).

I’d think the removal and replacement (and reindexing) of the circuit board would be the critical step, but unfortunately that’s not explored in the tutorial.

Hogo, can we get some black stainless steel tail caps for Clickies? Just because I want them. Thanks

    The Malkoff Front Porch

Now that you mention it, it might be! I forgot where I had got it, it’s been a while. These Cloud deep carry clips are replacing Prometheus titanium clips on my Malkoffs, which never looked right to me because of how low they ride on the body. Plus the cloud clips have very strong retention...

That’s a pretty righteous little configuration right there 👍 It’s a modernized, supercharged E1_ series light. I might have to build one now 😎 Can you take a picture with the deep carry clip on it?
