Where did all the oldtimers go.

Once I sold my custom lights to other members I kinda lost interest. My light needs can be met with all the commercial stuff now. Then,,, not so much. The only custom stuff left is a Mr. Bulk Space Needle II. ( at least I think that is the version.)

Where did all the oldtimers go.

Still around, I do not modify flashlights any more. Once the tech was available on the shelf that hit 200 + lumens, I was done. Recent purchase is a a Fenix rechargeable which fits all my needs and the my wants have tempered with time

how would you stock up for apocaplyse ?

On the " Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdog" quote. My upbringing has the quote " Sheep, Wolves and Shepherd" basically the same thing. the only way to survive a long term disaster is to have good reliable friends where various people have strengths in different skills. that way you do not have to...

Master thread for disasters and generators.

I would like to thank Sub_Umbra for all of his sharing of his first hand experience. It is his fault why I have the equipment in my attic to pile drive a 80' water well with a well sand point, galvanized pipe, drive couplers, homemade driver, tripod with bicycle wheel pulley and a piston...

    Battlestar Galactica

Remember the quote " this has all happened before" My understanding is the human looking cylons were once humans but as the original cyclons 1000 years in the past were rebelling against the humans the few humans that were left downloaded them selves into the new version of cylons to survive...

year and a half ago.. In my case I worked a service contract. I was not responsible for the finished project, but had to be available for design evaluation, test evaluation, S&MA evaluation. I interviewed for a design position about 8 months ago and they said that they were still not able...

A wayward knob from a work light may force NASA to retire shuttle Atlantis

The company that made the main forward cockpit glass went out of business over 20 years ago. The spare set of "glass" that was in the inventory was used on Endeavor that was built in the late 80's and early 90's. They have to be really really really careful, because if the crack or break them...

it's great when good people survive

It never was safe. Our technology and inexpensive energy sources just allowed people to feel safe by getting them out of hereditary job skills and to for most of them to step up the social classes. A good book to read would be "The Engines of our Enginuity" then immediately read the "The...

What's your annual income? (anonymous poll)

Mine was combined, I do not have a full time job. I usually work a few contract jobs a year. Since we live below our means and do not have much in tax deductions it is a big discouragement for me to work full time. For 2008 my reportable gross was $21,000 USD and I sent just over 46% to the...

Lock stock and barrel, any winter projects?

What a neat idea, kind of hiding your propane in plain sight. I might have to do that. I hate having propane tanks in my garage where a neighboors kid might think it is cute to hit it with a hatchet, hammer or whatever. If the plans are avialable on the net could you pm me the link.

2002 or 2003 stats stated that the birth rate needed to be 2.11 births for that time frames life expectancy. The actual birth rate was 2.07 and the country still grew by about 20 million people. Hmmmm we are still growing Recent data has shown that HIV/AIDS is starting to excelerate in...
