Hello and welcome to CPF :)
I'm legally blind, in what sounds like a similar situation. Central vision only, so tunnel vision (field of view about 5° wide), no peripheral vision and no low-light / night vision. The following are some of my thoughts in no particular order.
I see you're...
As nbp says, bare aluminium is normally fine. It forms a natural oxide coating which is virtually invisible and prevents further corrosion.
The one thing you need to watch is exposure to salt, which can catalyse severe corrosion. For example, if your light is exposed to seawater, sea spray or...
Good point. I'm reminded of these useful threads:
Sub_Umbra's classic about water and the aftermath of Katrina in general:

Poppy's thread about lighting and power outages...
Sorry; it hadn't occurred to me that the BLF thread constituted a sales link. Although I don't consider it one as of now, it is of course liable to become one once Sofirn release the light!
On a related note, there's a BLF project in the works where Sofirn are going to make 1×AAA keychain lights in the style of the legendary Fenix E01, but using Yuji LEDs. The plan is to have 3200K and 5600K versions in three anodisation colours.

You're welcome :)
I've just remembered that there was a thread on BLF about using those clamps and other hardware to mount flashlights on camera tripods and whatnot:

I don't have an exact match to your request, but if you search AliExpress for "magic crab clamp", you'll find clamps that can hold most flashlights. The clamps have 1/4" and 3/8" threads for attachment to other equipment.
Been using my Convoy BD01, BD06 and X3 on ceiling-bounce duty today, because our fluorescent tube in the kitchen died this morning. It's amazing how these things always happen on a Sunday. Time to buy an LED tube instead, I think. Hopefully before my charger melts with all the 26650s I'll be...
I got a keyring with a chip built in for contactless payments the other day. It's a bit awkward to hold against the reader by itself, so I attached a Fenix E01 to it with a split ring. Now I have something to hold onto while I'm using the keyring to pay for stuff :)
For Cree LEDs, you can also use their interactive Product Characterisation Tool:

As Peter Yetman says, you need to know the LED current.
For ordinary linear drivers - the sort of thing you'll see in most single-cell Li-Ion flashlights, like the Convoy S2+...
