    streetlights with greenish-yellow tinged cast

Hello, haven't posted here for a while, but this thread popped up at a first Google hit, searching for LED streetlights with a green tint. I am just back from 7 week holiday in Europe and noticed green tinted street lights, in a forest part of my old town Assen, were I used to live 30 years ago...

    Maglite Halogen bulb questions

You may need to put an ammeter in series with the lamp. Also measure the voltage at the same time across the lamp and calculate your wattage.

    LED streetlights in New Zealand

jtr1962 hits it on the head. With the LED streetlights the controller modules are the weak part and they should be accessable via the manhole at the base of the lamp. The leds will probably last the 50k - 100k and more hours, but the controllers have electrolytic capacitors on them and...

    LED streetlights in New Zealand

cdw3079 I will take a few more photo's at this site, this week and see how they compare again. There are also a few streetlights on trial with a solar panel on top of the streetlight in the same street.

using 120v power for LED lighting...

That d1ja item is most likely a rectifier of some sort. Either a full bridge or just a diode. I share your thoughts too and like the 5 mm LED's for most of my projects. For 120 Volts I use 2 x 6800 ohms 1 Watt in series and a forward biassed 1N4007 diode to reduce heating in the R's. The...

    LED streetlights in New Zealand

The biggest issue with the LED steetlihts are the costs of putting them in. Also more poles are required to get the desired lighting level at the street. HI - pressure sodium is still the one to go for cost wise and reliability wise. As LED technology improves, no doubt that more LED...

    5mm led mcd ratings

I have seen quotes on Ebay of 100k MC +. ( > 100,000 ) Not sure how true these numbers are. I have used 10,000 and 20,000 MCAD LED's 5 mmØ. These are very bright, especially the green ones. The beam angle is quite narrow, typically 5 to 9 °. It depends where you want to use them for.

    CFL Ballast Fire

I haven taken some failed CFL lamps apart and these appear to have a 10 ohm resistor in series with the supply. This will act as a in-line fuse and will go open circuit when the lamp current increases during a fault. In above cases the 10 ohm R was still ok but other parts on the board failed...

    LED streetlights in New Zealand

There are a couple of streets in Auckland where LED streetlights are trialled. A few images are attached below, this was taken in Glen Eden http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3565/3369713346_d56edae186.jpg?v=0 slimline design http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3652/3368889875_6ce8ee779e.jpg?v=0...

    Led Traffic Lights Dying Already.

This one I took today, in te Atatu Rd, New Zealand, only 4 led's are out. Usually you have to be very quick to take a photograph while in the car. Too dangerous to stand on the middle of the road. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3601/3368891617_73caf86ae5.jpg?v=0 One below is from a cluster...

Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 8/27/2010 (Newer Info Added)

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 6/22/08 (Info Added) I find it interesting to see that in most "flashed" bulbs, the filaments have actually melted of or near the supports to the filament. Obviously that part is exposed to most thermal stress. I would expect the filament to melt...

    Led Traffic Lights Dying Already.

In New Zealand we had initially the orange LED clusters failing. ( about mid 2005 ). Now I see that some green and red LED clusters are affected as well. I got hold of a couple of broken red and green ones via someone I know in the traffic signal department. There are different arrays of LED's...
