    Where to buy Mag C

I couldn't find it again but a few days ago someone was looking for a place to buy C size Maglights. Some CPF vendors carry black ones and probably would order the color you want. I sometimes find them at Target but also find it hard to find what I'm looking for. So I looked up the place I mail...

    toughness of dremel diamond wheel

jsmn4vu, I think what you are refering too is caused by the oil on the steel, it's nothing inherent in steel itself. And it is the adhesive that is affected, diamond itself is pretty inert. It's a valid point, tho, using oil on a diamond whetstone will quickly strip the diamond off...

    Mag conversion question please?

You definitely want the aluminum reflectors when you get over 10 or 11 watts. I've had 10watt bulbs start melting the stock reflector after 20+ minutes continuous. You're probably OK with 6 volts and 1.5 amps but 7.2v and 1.5amps is something I would want to keep an eye on.

    Charger Comparison

Hey Milky, I'd be willing to kick in a couple of bucks to get Silverfox an IC3 charger. As far as I'm concerned, the info he has already provided is worth that much to me. I've decided to stay away from really fast chargers like the IC3 but I'm interested in the data for comparison as well as...

    3AA to D in series & parallel??

Use 2 3AAtoD adapters with D cell ends wired in parallel. Fivemega had some 8AAtoD adapters regulated to 3.6v for sale on the group buys forum which would be your easiest although not cheapest solution.

How long can rechargable batteries sit...

If they are Nicad, they should be fine. Anything else is probably no good, but you could try NiMH after a slow charge. The Lacrosse charger that Silverfox recommended would be the best one to try and revive these with. But if you don't want to spend that much money the only cheap 'dumb' charger...

NiMH with reversed polarity... fixable or toast?

Re: NiMH with reversed polarity... fixable or toas I recently revived a reversed nimh AA cell that was at about -.06v. It wouldn't charge in my Vanson BC-1HU so I put it in my MAHA 2A4 dumb charger overnight. Since then it has charged and discharged normally. I only use my suspect batteries in...

Surefire 20 hr bulbs fail under use?

I just changed out the original bulb in my old 6P. There wasn't anything wrong with it, I just decided it could use a rest after 10 years or so. I estimate that it has a least 100 hours on it & I don't see any bulb blackening. It is now my spare LA. I used to have an entire spare 6P as a way to...

    Question about Mag85

While it would be possible to use alkalines, there's no way to get 3.5 amps for any length of time, even from D size alkalines. The bulb would be dim with 9 alkalines and I don't know if 10 would be too much voltage. Most of us either make or buy dummy AAs, and there are some for sale by modamag...

    Rubbers for your Flashlight???

Nightize offers a thick grip like the old style C or D pachmayr grips. I put one on my FT-3C and put the one cell section that I cut off on my 6C mag that already had the '5cell' length Pachmayr grip. It matches the old grip almost exactly except the older one looks older, for some reason. I've...

Short or sub C battery recommendation

HI Wilkey, thanks for all of the interesting information. I was a hotwire type long before finding CPF. I've always used one cell more than bulb rating with Nicads since I got my first mag light in the late '60s or early 70s. I started with a Mag5D (6D was just too heavy & awkward) using nicads...

    Looking for a good DMM

This is another good reason for using a .1 or .01 ohm shunt resistor and taking a voltage measurement. Lead resistance won't have much effect on a voltage measurement since it will be a tiny fraction of the input resistance (several Megaohms, usually 10M on DMMs) and the current flow is very...

    Stealth MC60BP Battery Question

PJS, I use 1.4 x C (or the percent of C that I think I have used) as a rough guide for a recharge time. That has been the standard for NiCad and NiMH for as long as I can remember (hence the 14hr. charging time recommended in most instructions for dumb chargers). That should be plenty, charging...

Short or sub C battery recommendation

I'm awaiting my order of WA01185 and WA01274 superbulbs from the GB. I'm planning on using some of these in my old 6C mag. Obviously I would prefer to use more than 6 cells and accordingly I have been looking at various of the short Cs. 6 standard Cs totals about 300mm. I'm only considering NiMH...
