The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

I'm not well-versed in electrical hardware, but when I researched normal v. pro a few years ago for non-flashlight uses, the general consensus that I heard is that the capacity/recharge tradeoff is why the pros work better in some circumstances...i.e. the entire point of the Pro is that they...

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

Thanks for the feedback, Modern. Can anyone else elaborate on how the differences in lumen output between the 1AA and 2AA MDC affect usage?

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

As a flashlight newb, lumen numbers don't translate into real life for me....can someone compare the differences in application of the .3/8/90 output of a neutral 1aa mdc to the 3/15/185 output of a neutral 2aa mdc? I'm sure its partly subjective, but a general overview would be very helpful...

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

This is separate from the new MDC bodies displayed in February at https://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?336391-The-Official-Malkoff-Junkie-thread-Part-2&p=5188169&viewfull=1#post5188169, right? Or are they likely delayed, too?

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

As a total flashlight novice, I need some help. I've read hundreds of pages of CPF posts, but some basics regarding Malkoffs are still eluding me. If I missed this info elsewhere, I apologize. How easy is assembly if using all Malkoff modular parts---does it need any actual work like...

Recommend me a light for general travel/emergency

Due to everyone's helpful input, I think I'm leaning toward a MDC 2AA. Does Malkoff do any customization, e.g., adding initials, or adding knurling, as shown in Archimedes most recent photo above? Or is there someone else on CPF that has the proper machinery to do such work? Finally, does anyone...

Recommend me a light for general travel/emergency

Everyone's comments have been very helpful! I've been able to focus my requirements. I decided to definitely get a product from a Western country, and from the bit I've read about batteries, I prefer simple options, so AA over 16650/cr123. And I will definitely take everyone's advice of getting...

Recommend me a light for general travel/emergency

Thanks for the input! I was really hoping to stay with American/European manufacturers if at all possible, and Nightcore looks like its Chinese---are Nightcore products generally far superior to Western countries? I appreciate your comments :) What makes carrying two lights a better choice? Is...

Recommend me a light for general travel/emergency

I've reviewed the flashlights suggested in this forum for the past few months and didn't see any requests that match mine. Basically, I want an emergency-focused light for travel---particularly while hiking and visiting new cities. I'm a very novice hiker, though, so I basically have no idea...
