Ramping Light with Silicone Diffuser Tip

Good thought, any idea where to find same? I've done searches on Google, Amazon, etc. for "diffuser" and have not found much of anything.

Ramping Light with Silicone Diffuser Tip

Specifically looking for light(s) with the above two features. I think that "ramping" is the term -- what I mean is being able to set the light level from zero to max without steps, i.e. no low/medium/high. The silicone diffuser tip is relatively small and disperses the light fairly broadly...

    LED flashlight lifespan?

Thanks for all of the comments! Couple of questions: 1) What is the best cleaner to use on the contacts? I've used rubbing alcohol, but maybe there is something better. 2) As far as replacements, I'm thinking "quality" means Surefire, HDS, Malkoff -- any others? I'll get some candidates in...

    LED flashlight lifespan?

Good points. I don't think that the lights have been dropped. And, I would assume (maybe wrongly?) that Fenix and Innova would be good quality. Not sure about the ThruNite.

    LED flashlight lifespan?

I've had several LED flashlights die on me after what seems to me to be relatively light use and relatively short time periods (2-4 years). These include a Fenix 1AA, an Innova CR123, and most recently a ThruNite 1AAA. Fenix customer service suggested cleaning the contacts with alcohol. I...

    Recommend headlamp for reading?

Just as an FYI, right after I started this thread I sent an email to Zebralight to see what they recommend based on customer feedback. They replied: H502d, if used for books/kindles mostly. H53Fw, if used for books/kindles mainly, but occasionally some other indoor or outdoor use. I asked a...

    Recommend headlamp for reading?

Thanks for all the replies and the specific suggestions. I like having some choices to consider other than the Zebralight as they are pricey, but I'm wiling to spend that much if that is what it takes. I think I will likely find some other uses for a good headlamp anyway so that justifies the...

    Recommend headlamp for reading?

Yes it seems as though being able to adjust the light intensity very low is a key.

    Recommend headlamp for reading?

terjee, has your daughter been able to compare the Zebralight frosted to the non frosted? I saw the Thrunight TH10 and TH20 recommended in another thread for close up work (not specifically reading, though). Anyone know how they would compare to the Zebralight?

    Recommend headlamp for reading?

Thanks for the suggestions! I don't want there to be, say, a 3 inch hotspot right in the center of the book page, but on the other hand a flood going out close to 180 degrees would not seem optimal either.

    Recommend headlamp for reading?

I've been using one of the little gooseneck clip on book lights, but depending on the size of the book getting it to stay in place, and provide even lighting, is a challenge. I'm thinking that a headlamp would be a better option. Reading in bed would be the primary purpose, although it's...

    Another Kubotan Replacement Questions

one more comment ... size of the light is very important re EDC. the Mini Mag is 5.75" and 6" or so lights are not always pocket friendly for me. i'm now considering some alternatives in the 4.25 to 4.5" range with a .75" or so diameter, possibly with the magnetic ring to vary the intensity.

    Another Kubotan Replacement Questions

what you describe was one of the design parameters of the Mini Mag, and it is an ideal size plus inexpensive. not outstanding as a light, however. any light of similar size should work well just focus on other features that appeal. i like the contour and UI of the foursevens quark 2AA but would...

Novice asks do you recommend the Sunwayman V11R or... ?

Two questions re the magnetic ring lights 1 can the battery drain be eliminated by leaving the tailcap loosened? 2 do any of these lights have preflash? I find this annoying on my Quark and need to make it a standard question on my checklist ........
