Muddling through circuits and I come across a resistor value noted as 0.22R and I don't have a clue what that stands for!

Can anyone ease my ignorance?

Thanks!

That would be 0.22 ohm, assuming it isn`t a typing error, it seems quite an overly precise value to me- but what do I know?

R is often used in place of the "omega" ohm symbol cos some people (like me right now

) can`t type it.

For example- 10R means 10 ohms.
A variation you may find is, for example, 0R22- this means the same as 0.22R- 0.22 ohms. Just a kind of shorthand I suppose.

Chris M.:

Thanks! I be educated now.

Your definition is as I guessed, but for a change I thought I'd not jump straight into making as *** of myself by asssuming that to be the case.

I appreciate the input. And, you're right, it is a very precise number, but it establishes a reference voltage in a very small circuit.
