Looking for a dedicated light to leave in my hunting backpack. I mostly use a Zebralight H52w on Energizer Lithiums and would like as small as possible of a twisty AA. Ideally it would have 2 or 3 modes.

Max brightness isn't too important, but more than 100 Lumens would be nice.
Neutral or high CRI LED would be nice.

Peak Eiger ( infinitely variable or high only )
Malkoff MDC Neutral ( three modes )
Malkoff MD3 body + M31W drop-in ( two modes )
Streamlight ProTac 90 ( two modes )
ArmyTek Partner ( four modes )

they all take 1-2 AAs and beside the ArmyTek are by default have zero parasitic drain

I'm still using an old Fenix LD15 quite happily - 117 lumens on high, 8 on low, runs fine on a single AA Eneloop.

Fenix does not seem to have a direct replacement for it - the LD15R is right-angle, CR123/16340 powered and seems to have a click switch rather than twist.

The Peak El Capitan sure looks good - didn't know about it until this thread.

The ArmyTek Partner appears to have been re-born as a 2x18650 light - or am I looking at the wrong product ?

ArmyTek uses the old SF numbering ( sorta ), the Partner C2 is a 2xCR123/18650 body and the Partner C4 is a 4xCR123/2x18650 light, and it's been that way for a few years now.

They also have the dedicated AA type light, the Prime A2, which takes 2xAA and the Prime A1 which takes one.

I myself found the Partner C4 the best combination, because it works on 1-2-3-4 CR123s, 2xAA, 2xNiMH, 1-2 18650, or 1-2 RCR123s.
You can also swap the Partner C2 and C4 bodies, so you can use it as a 2xAA with the C4 body, or as a single 18650 with the C2 body.
( or even a Partner C1 body with a single RCR123 if you wish )

@fulee9999 doesn't give recommendations based on what the OP wants....he gives recommendations based on what the OP needs.

@bridgman - the El Capitan is one of my favorite lights. If I had to choose one it might just be that one because of the AA battery type.
The Logan 17500 with the adapters take all the battery types 17500 and under and is an excellent choice.

The Logan 17500 is pretty much the ultimate travel/end of the world light. With the adapter package.
