L16vn mod to run 20700

1) remove body from light.

2) Remove plastic retaining ring with needlenose pliers or large tweezer

3) Remover internal sleeve

4) Light will now hold 20700 with side switch operation only

5) If you got a Manker U12 tail cap you can now have a L16vn Shorty with some tail cap mod.

I'm confused. Why does removing a plastic retaining ring and the internal sleeve deactivate the tail switch? I ask cause I like the idea of using the 20700 but it's not worth it to me to lose the rear switch.

So who has the SST40 edition of this L30 and can tell me if there are prominent rings in the beam?
(My SSR40 D1vn has those distracting rings, otherwise a great light).

Any comments on the size of the hot spot would be appreciated, comparing to other lights (especially S200C2vn).

Nothing against the light, but it does have those rings; reflector just not designed for that LED. Great light great performance otherwise though. I sold mine, but if I remember right the hot spot was about the same as the SC200C2vn with the SST40. L30vn does have 10k more lux and 250 lumens more, and a little wider spill, but that's not too noticable really. Something about the SC200C2vn that is just really special to me though. If you want a beautiful beam, then go with it.

How? I'm guessing you lube up the cell and tap it into the light with a hammer...

Remove the internal body sleeve. The sleeeve is for the rear switch which VNX2 doesn't need anyways.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm going to wait for the T27vn with shorty tail cap and hopefully VNX2 UI.
