So I've finally splashed out on a new light - a Fenix LD12 G2. After a long time using my E05 or my dads old L1T (with a horrible green tint!) I thought it was time for an upgrade to a more modern light.
I spent hours here on CPF looking for the right light for me then finally settled on an LD12. I decided to get the G2 version because, well, I'm a bit of a sucker for new stuff.
So long story short my LD12 arrived today. I fired her/him/it(?) up and did the obligatory 'shine it in yer eyes' test (ouch). After doing this I shone it at a wall only to find (cue dramatic music) that the beam is littered with rings.
I don't have a camera to hand so I can't take a beamshot right now but I can kind of describe it from hotspot to spill:
Are there any LD12/G2 LED owners here that could give me a bit of advice? All the LD12 beamshots I've seen (old XP-G model) are clean and even. Perhaps it's the new G2 LED, maybe it's just my light.
Either way it's ridiculous that a almost 50 pound light can be this shoddy. When I buy a Fenix light I expect quality, hence why I've stuck with them all these years. My L1T is donkeys years old and still outperforms the LD12 beamshot wise - have Fenix just given up?
Sackless.

I don't have a camera to hand so I can't take a beamshot right now but I can kind of describe it from hotspot to spill:
- The hotspot is a nice pure white colour - maybe a bit on the blue side but nothing to complain about
- Just outside of the hotspot is a slight, dark ring (where the hotspot meets the spill). It's pretty faint though so I guess I could live with it
- A bit further out though the beam becomes quite 'ringy' - a majour nuisance
- The beam then smooths out for a little bit
- Towards the edge of the spill there is another dark ring, followed by a wide, blue band
