It took me a long time to finally pull the trigger on a custom slipjoint, but I've been looking at Hiroaki Ohta's work for a while now and I love what he does with his Stag. I'm extremely happy to finally add this one to the collection.

Very elegant. Reminds me more of a German traditional with those stag handles then a knife made by a japanese. These types of knives are very underappreciated.

Ive got a similar looking one, not a custom, but still handmade here in germany. I sometimes like carrying it with with more formal attire 'cause some of my jackets have an inside pocket that's just the right size for it. The quality is actually outstanding, the steel not so much. But no one buys these knives for the steel.

That's actually the top of a Remington Quiet Riter's carrying case.

You are correct, they are very underappreciated. I'm finding myself reverting back to traditional knives. I love to see handmade knives like that. I can see why you like to carry that one!
