Good tip. Has anyone measured the max amp draw the Fw3a or FW1A use? I'm surprised it is more than 10 amps!
Since it is fet on high the current draw depends on battery and emitter choice. A high capacity cell like vtc5 will allow more current draw than a ga or mj1.

If the FW1A draws no more than say 4Amps, a 30A battery will not give more lumens than a 10A battery.

I never tried the Zebralight Hi but the FW1A HI is by far my best pocket thrower. Accidental activation in my pocket is my biggest worry. When I need my flashlight I need it fast so lockout isn't practical for me.

When it comes to a narrow non distracting beam you may want to consider an aspheric. There is a great one in 18650 flavor offered by Vinh, and my favorite one is an ultrafire u-f10. I have had mine heavily modded so it gives out more than 1000lm off an 18350 imr

I find my L08 quite throwy for its size.
I ended up getting the aluminum FW1A XPL Hi. It is a great, little, throwy flashlight with a perfect beam. It's a little too fat for my pocket but it's fine in my jacket pocket during the winter. I do have to carry ot locked out because the button doesn't take much pressure to turn on by accident. I still enjoy my FW1A because if it's nice throwy beam.
