Here is the most efficient use of space that I have found.
I use the resistor "leg" to support the coil.
there is just enough room.
That places the connection right there for the coil.
This way, you can get the whole thing in a pencil eraser.
You may have more success to solder the resistor to the BASE of the transistor first.... then bend it around so it rests on the transistor body and then thread the coil. Then solder the coil. There is just enough room for the leg of the resistor and 20 turns. Use a toothpick ( Gadget trick ) to open gently.
