soldering advice

I rarely use separate flux when soldering, I just tin the iron good and if I feed too much solder to get more flux I wick it up with the tip of the iron and wipe it off on a wet sponge. Pretinning everything before soldering them together is the trick as then you just have to put a slight bit of solder to attach them together.

Hmm...maybe I should make it a habit to use flux regardless

always use flux. tin the iron and use flux.

i guess if you're skilled, then maybe you don't need extra flux. but if you're a klutz like me, extra flux is essential.
