Streamlight Sl20 wiring melted

Hey guys, I carry a sl20 on patrol everyday and just recently went to turn it on and it started smoking. Turned it off and removed the battery and let it sit for awhile. Today I finally opened it up and once I removed the bulb I could see the wires that connect to the bulb had completely melted together. It is one of the older sl20s that was passed down to me and I would prefer to keep it going if possible. Is there an easy way to rewire the light? Perhaps replace the switch? I'm all ears as I am not very knowledgeable on this topic.
