What to do with an md3 body and tricap?

Just upgraded the wildcat to an md4 for more runtime. Now I've got an md3 body, tricap and 18500's doing nothing. Looks like I could get an m91bw or m91t but Im not sure those would do anything my wildcat v6 neutral and hound dog 18650 neutral don't do. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Omg with a MD3 you got yourself the best Omnivore light out there. Check out WoodsWalker videos.

It's true. Get yourself an MDX head and an MD2 head wrench and you've cornered the market on modularity. If it were mine, I'd get a nicha flavored M31 from Illumination Supply along with a couple of delrin sleeves and run it on 2AA.

Edit: The high / low switch may not behave normally, so I'd just use the aluminium retaining ring.

Well you will get more output and throw with the 91t. Not sure of runtime with 18500.

I got 1 hour 23 minutes out of an M91T on high running on 2 x 1700mAh Keeppower 18500's (2000mAh versions are now available, which could give up to 1 hr 37 minutes).

Thanks for the report. This is the most appealing option to me. Much different than the neutral general use beams I already own.

Yes, brilliant youtube video that was an inspiration to me.

Another option: M61T with 22.3mm head Hi/Lo Ring.. Screw-on to MD3 ~ 2x 18500 and then grins galore!

Yes agreed! Excellent throw... And it is worth noting that the M61T has a wider voltage range than the M61T Hot that has a max of 6 volts and is designed to run on a single 18650.

When my next Malkoff shipment arrives next week (Its probably with Customs at the moment) I will be putting together the following Omnivore kit:

1 x MD3 body
1 x M61T head
1 x M61 Low head
1 x M31 Low head
1 x MD body extender kit
1 x Oveready 18mm 2 cell AA sleeve
2 x Oveready Delrin spacer 34 mm
1 x Dummy AA
2 x AAA to AA adapters

Batteries, multiples of

CR123 primaries
CR123 rechargeables
18500
18650
AA
AAA

All stored in a Maxpedition skinny pocket organiser.

I will fit hi/lo rings to all the heads except the M31L. The standard aluminium ring will be obvious compared to the brass hi/lo rings so will help prevent me blowing up the 3 volt head by mistake.

I also have an MD3 Wildcat in the next order so my Malkoff collection will consist of:

MD2 M61T Hot (complete flashlight)
MD2 M61 (complete flashlight)
MD2 Camo (complete flashlight)
MD3 Wildcat (complete flashlight)
MD3 Body
MDX Head with M61T
MDX Head with M61L
MDX Head with M31L
Spare Tricap
Spare lens etc.
Spare M61 (x3)

That setup would get you through just about any situation I can think of. Very nice.

Cheers :twothumbs I studied WoodsWalker's video serval times to make sure I covered all the options (I also have some 16650 and 18350 cells).

For the last few weeks I have been testing a M61L in a MD3 body* running 2x AAA's in adapters with the Oveready sleeve..... it works well enough as a low power option.

I am waiting for the 2 sets of MD body extension rings in the next order before I use the 2x 18500 keepower cells again, as these are longer overall than 3x CR123.

The other thing I plan to do is buy a 18350 extension tube which will allow me to run 2x 18650's in an MD3 body Omnivore (or the MD3 Wildcat). The extender can also be used with the MD2 bodies.

* I bought this from someone in Spain, glad I did.... Thanks DD :)

Also with the MD3 you can run a 18650 hound dog head on 2XAA.I got bored one day and tried it. Dam thing ran for I think 16-17 DAYS! It's low output like 2-6 lumens but because it's a thrower "high lux" it seems much brighter and is very useful.
