Going to see if I can make it up to my cabin today in the southerntier. It’s at the top of a rocky, steep hill so I’m hoping enough snow has melted. We shall see.

I did but I live on the western side of the state. We’re only getting a few inches. I hope you all are safe and get through it without any issues.

BTW, I did make it up to my cabin. It was a bit difficult but my Subie pulled through. All looks good and now I can’t wait for better weather!

Good thing I live in a 2nd-story apartment..can't imagine how house owners closer to the ground must feel.

I'm organizing my fellow New Yorkers into a large, angry mob.
To track down every weather forecaster in NYC, and exact some vengeance.
Which is what I would say if I wasn't horrendously exhausted from work, on my day off.
Likely just breakfast and collapse into bed due to exhaustion.
Still.... They promised us 40-degree F. temps. and above for several days!
It doesn't snow above 35-degrees F. Their Voodoo is on the fritz!
Maybe they should get some new chicken bones to throw down for predictions.
(I think the snow just stopped.)

I'm dead serious about weather manipulation using microwaves...maybe just dead soon, but yeah, dead serious. "They" could easily manipulate wifi and phone signals with beamshaping to slow cook an individual, or to gradually warm up certain regions of a space. Imagine if you took the magnetron out of your microwave and built a small array for it?

They've had something called an "active denial system" for decades now, I can't even begin to imagine what fresh horrors have been cooked up since then.

The funny thing, in my opinion, our military has not been about conflict instigation...it was originally about conflict resolution, preemptive or otherwise. As a nation, the first "standing army" was a bunch of ragtag militia, formed as a matter of necessity, not of opulence. Even now, while our elected govt is toeing a dangerous line, the stated intent is pre-emption of a statistical likelihood...but who can know the mind of another? The writing is on the wall though, stormy weather ahead, a calm before the storm.

I agree. We should not be instigating like we are. Diplomacy doesn’t always work and when it does it takes time but our country was started to get away from this crap. I hope calmer heads prevail.

I refuse to believe that our military does NOT already possess a laser big enough to melt snow before it lands on the ground. And, I mean over a very wide area several hundreds of miles long. But they won't use it to benefit its citizens.

I saw a product today from a Chinese firm that claims to kill 30 mosquitoes per second with lasers. It costs over $400 but if it works might be worth it in areas where malaria is rampant.

No need for that. A simple mist of isopropyl alcohol drops the mozzies instantly. We keep spray bottles of it everywhere. In the car, near the doors, near the couch, next to the bed.

We take the carcasses and dump them outside by the door. Since the alcohol evaporates quickly, the critters which feed on mosquitoes find a nice free meal, hang around, reproduce, and help knock down the mosquitoes.

A drum fan with screen attached to the intake works wonders down here. Leave that out for a week and you'll have eliminated acres of mosquitoes. Similar to above, spray the mosquito-filled screen with alcohol and they'll all dry up. Leave the bodies outside and the critters will take care of them for you.
