Supposed to get into the low-60s today.

It's sunny. It's warming up. There's still icing all over the ground from the melting areas that froze overnight, but I expect most of that to be gone in another couple of hours.

For the first time since early December I've gone without "base layers". Might even feel frisky enough, this afternoon, to give the car a good washing and "waxing". Imagine that ... in February.

Who'd have thunk it? Old Man Winter gettin' his ears boxed around by Mother Nature, in February. Whatever happened behind "closed doors" with those two, I'm all for it. Have at 'him, MN. Let 'er rip, you saucy, sassy lass.

dramatic orchestral boss music crescendos, as a phantasmal visage of an old, weathered man materializes in the swirling clouds above. As the bearded face descends, lightning rips through the darkened skies, the crackle heralding the harbinger of doom.

The face alights upon a series of converged tornadoes, and a health bar suddenly appears, reading "Old Man Winter". He opens his mouth and lets loose a frigid roar; the shockwave freezes the very ground it shakes. As if awakened from a deep slumber, the earth blossoms into lush foliage, the dirt errupting into towering trees and vines, challenging the very frost itself. The trunks amalgamate into a yawning face, then a supine female body, stretching, shedding the weariness from her oaken form. As she stares at Old Man Winter's now stoic face, you breathe a sigh of relief, Mother Nature herself has come to your aid! However, you slowly feel your blood turn cold as a second health bar appears, and she coyly smiles at the Old Man. "Oh darling, I've missed your refreshing embrace. Have I slept long?"

  That's a good 60 degrees warmer than just a couple weeks back at around noon.

With all the colder weather, it's been awhile since I had opened the windows to let all the wonderful fresh air in. Did that this morning. A little chilly, but a fan helped. (Boy, the base layers are comin' in handy today.)

Ought to get up to nearly 60ºF, if the weather predictors are on the ball. Heck, that's "Hawaiian" shirt weather, that is. And in February, no less.

Punxsutawney Phil can go do the "dance" up his rope.

But I was woken up several hours early and couldn't go back to sleep because some lunatic programmed the heat for 1st Level Of HELL.

As far as, it's better to be hot than cold argument goes.... not if it feels like your bedroom is a giant oven and you can't open the door! That would be hilarious, wouldn't it. Found dead of Heatstroke in the middle of Winter. Open a window? Sure! Oh, the Wind took the day off! Seriously, no air blowing at all. Mother Nature decided not to blow. Today was a G-rated Day.

Looks like there's an energetic line of thunderstorms developing over Oklahoma, moving toward northwestern Arkansas, southern Missouri.

Hopefully the relatively lower energy of a winter blow won't allow for tornadoes. But the "line" of the thing is looking threatening.

Ah, well. It's getting toward that time of year again.

Supposed to hit the low-60s in my area. We'll see. It's feeling pretty nippy right now, and some rain's on the way. At least all the salt in the roadways is gone, for now anyway. And almost all the snow, except for in the woodlands and shadier spots of hillsides.

My gas bill for those combined months of 62 days was $257,, or just over $4/day just for the NatGas./taxes/everything else
I figure another $1.25 for electric to run my furnace (has alot of electronics in it,, not just the 2-stage fan)

I just got my electric bill in and I'm absolutely shocked by it. $132(!). I've never been over $100 before. Usually half that or less. I have a very efficient heat pump (COP 4+).

At the same time I saw my bill, my heart sank thinking how much more everyone else's bills must be. Most people in the area only have straight electric heat strips, so they're going to be facing bills of $400-$1,000. In Florida. That's a substantial amount for many (most?) people, worse an unplanned expense of sorts compared to a normal winter.

We're back to our normal wintertime pattern in Florida.

Highs 75F, lows near 60F at night.

The place is absolutely packed with snowbirds and tourists.

They say we're going to see mid-80s this week. After the winter freeze, I'll take it.

The plants which froze out a couple of weeks ago appear to have 'melted' this week. I've never seen that before.
