I forgot to ask, did you get the Nichia version of the Tool? That's the one I have and it pumps out 4000K high CRI goodness. I'm not sure I'd be as enthused about it as a 6500K model.

If they made that in a SINGLE level, of say 15 - 30 lmns or so, OMG!

That would be a GAME CHANGER!

I just have NO use for those stupid HIGH/TURBOS, that do nothing but waste the battery level, as you end up going thru them

Optimize the flashlight for the SINGLE level, again say 15 - 30 lmns, and they'd have a GAME CHANGER, on their hands!

Peak is consistent, if nothing else. If you had gotten an immediate response, I'd say something was horribly wrong! 😂
I always liked Robyn and spoke with her often 20 years ago. I helped her field test several of the duty related lights they once sold and gave input on various changes that I thought were improvements over the prototypes. Several of them had that rotary dial adjustment and a few other handy features. It looks like they do not even offer those anymore. I still have two of those prototypes stashed away somewhere. Still have not heard anything in response to my email however I am not in a rush. I may put up a wanted to buy for any Peak AAA heads until then.....(a long shot I know)
 
Folks forget that the company behind Peak makes the massive chunk of their profits well outside of flashlights. It's like a minor side-hustle for them that brings in a bit more profit. But not as though they are like any of the other well-known companies in the flashlight industry who rely on sales of lights to keep the company doors open. I'm just happy that they're keeping their side-hustle going. Though it's clear they've scaled back quite a bit over the years.
 
It seems that I remember Peak was always a smaller team and never known for turning out large amounts of lights quickly. The surprising part for me is that they never became bigger as they were a very real competitor to all the major players back then. When looking at the fit and finish on the samples I actually have they are very well done. They were a real threat to the ever popular ARC back in the day and I believe if they were not such a small team they could have easily been still going strong today.
 
This is the bag of AAA bodies I found buried in my collection. The bodies are completely sterile with no writing however have the same knurling and chalky gray anodizing of the original ARC AAA. They may be from Peaks early first run however they were in a bag with a card from ARC so naturally I think they were from Mr. Gransee. I do however never remember him offering any spare parts that were sterile with no logos or writing. I am going to have to track down some AAA heads that will fit these.....anyone know if ARC did have sterile bodies for sale?

I am a little frustrated that I can not remember where I bought them however I believe they are brand new old stock ARC AAA bodies. Peak did make some that were identical in color and texture however they were not made for very long and I think Peaks did not have the keychain lug. I could be wrong about the lug on the Peak bodies however it would be nice to find a AAA head in this color to use these bodies with.

I too would think those are more likely Arc than Peak.

Peak definitely had "pocket" "keychain" and "lug" styles, but most of their knurled bodies had smooth gaps, unlike the Arc.

There were rarer variants for Peak in terms of knurling, including smooth ones without any knurling at all, but those were less common and at the moment I cannot recall if they had a style exactly like this.
 
I may be out of luck with obtaining new Peak AAA heads however I am still hoping Robyn will eventually respond. As I do feel these are new old stock ARC parts I would rather have ARC heads for them however will settle on Peak if I can find them. I actually have a few Peak AAA lights however none are the gray anodized color. I have Peak stainless and black AAA lights and two of them have triple-5mm LEDs heads while the others are higher power luxeons of some type. I have tried them on these bodies and they do fit just fine so if nothing else I may rotate them out.

One of my Peak AAA lights is stainless and is the completely smooth body that you mentioned above. It has the higher power emitter as it has the number 8 on the positive contact point. Remember when they had the numbering system for their circuits? I think it was 1 through 8 and some of them also had the letter H stamped on the contact for the higher power versions. I have not used these Peaks in years and have forgotten if any of these AAA versions will run with a 10440 cell. I am afraid to try it so I plan to stick with standard Alkaline or Lithium primary cells.

I also found some weird sized brass Peak bodies and could not remember what battery they use. They are small and the only thing thus far that fits is a dang N-CELL battery. Did they make an N-CELL light that you remember? I also have some Peak bodies that take a 10180 and 10280 and I have no head for these. I may be able to use the AAA head with the high power rating however again I am a little nervous to try a Li/Ion cell. I have no idea why I would have bought the bodies with no head unit.
 
One caution I would mention is that with the very earliest 1-/3-/5-/etc LED (low-power) models, the higher voltage should be fine for the driver circuitry but will overdrive the emitter(s).

That will reduce the overall lifespan of those emitters. Later (recent) LEDs have extremely long service life but those very earliest emitters had substantially shorter expected service hours of illumination.
 
Okay, lotta love for Peak lights here, and you have my curiosity Peaked (so to spique). Maybe I can ask some questions?
I've never bought any Peak lights, in part because I have been turned off by the QTC mechanism. I have been worried that it will be a) unreliable and b) inefficient. What kind of run-times do these lights get? Esp. when I'm starting with an AAA cell, I want a driver that is as efficient as possible.
Also -- what is their start-up voltage?
All responses gratefully read.
