@Monocrom Replying back to your comment on whether the 17500 Keeppowers from Illumn fit the Logan 17500. In short, yes. They do. I'll go into further detail.

I posted a little while back about ordering a SS El Capitan with a 219b sw35 (medium optic) and momentary switch.. I had waited around almost a month before I reached out to Robyn as to try and not inundate her with emails but the reason it was taking so long is that she didn't realize she was short on SS El Capitan heads and as such, offered me a Logan 17500 with the delrin kit at no additional charge. Those familiar with this setup already know it's versatility with multiple cell formats using the additional delrin battery spacer/sleeve kit (AA, AAA, CR123), however, there are virtually no 17500s on the market so I ordered the only ones I could find which are available on Illumn.

Prior to being offered the Logan 17500, I had already received the 14500 cells I was planning to run in the El Capitan hoping that they would fit. In short, yes, they do. I'll again go into further detail below.

Below are three cells that I tried in the Logan 17500 and took three different pictures with each cell to reference how deep/shallow the head is in reference to the body based on how I carry/operate my flashlight. The first picture is physical lockout and the head is positioned such where you can first start to hear a little rattle when you shake the flashlight which gives me auditory confirmation that the battery is disconnected and is how I check for lockout in everyday use. The second picture is perceived minimum brightness which is when I can first see the light on in actual use (turning it on one-handed like I normally would). The last picture is perceived max brightness which is when I can no longer see the light becoming any brighter. Additionally, I wanted to know the number of rotations to percevied minimum brightness with the starting point being when the threads first catch onto the body. To do this, I reverse-threaded the head until I hear the click of the threads overlapping and mark the flat part of the bezel that is in line with the pocket clip (0°). I really wanted to know this number is because to me, the more rotations, the more structually secure the entire unit will be.

NOTES ON FITMENT: I included this cell in the mix for the obvious reason of extended runtime combined with increased output over AA/NiMH. I like the fit of this cell as I almost get full two rotations before minimum brightness and I've always used Keeppowers as well. If I could get at least two whole rotations to minimum brightness it would be perfect.

Maximum Continuous Discharging Current: 2A
Dimensions: 50.2 mm (L) x 14.3 mm (D)(±0.2mm)

NOTES ON FITMENT: I included this cell at it is closest to AA dimensions for a sure fit, has the added convenience of USB-C built-in charging when on the go, and is a nice balance between the runtime of the three options. It also is the most secure of the three cells with a little more than 4 rotations to minimum brightness which I like. My only question on this one is that I appear to hit max brightness right before I'm unable to turn the head down further so I wonder if I'm missing out since there isn't much room there at all as you'll see in the third picture below.

NOTES ON FITMENT: I had really high hopes for this cell as it is native to the body with decent runtime as well. My biggest gripe, as you'll already guess, is the length. With less than one rotation to minimum brightness due to the 53mm length, it provides the least secure fit of the three cells and as such, it will not be in my everyday rotation of cells. At physical lockout AND minimum brightness, you can see the top of the o-ring and the base of the bezel and just leaves way too much space for debris to enter. Additionally, full brightness appears to be at almost one full rotation (as compared to the ~2 and 4+ rotations to minimum brightness of the previous cells. I will discharge these to 3.7v and keep them as backup.

I was about to order the 17500 variation of the Logan.

But the O-ring showing like that, and the head not being as secure as it should be; that's a deal-breaker for me. That is just unacceptable. Especially considering that my very recently arrived Peak Logan S.S. CR123 version required a Peak tailcap switch. Along with a Prometheus BETA Ti pocket clip (not cheap) that needs to be modified to fit before it's ideal for my needs.... I'm glad I asked before buying. Once again, thank you.

Will get a couple of 17500 Keeppowers for an old Milky modded LED SureFire E2E that runs off of that cell only.

I’d imagine asking for a shorter post from Robyn might accommodate longer cells.

Ironically the switch I was sent for my S.S. CR123 Logan is the brass one. Despite indicating I wanted the S.S. one, instead on Peak's website. Lost all enthusiasm for that light, just due to that alone. Not worth it to me to send it back. My local post office isn't the best. Also, I need a tailcap switch on my main EDC lights. Just waiting on that Beta Ti clip. Going to finish up this little project light, and I guess toss it into the collection, instead of my EDC rotation.

Not happy that they sent me the wrong pressure switch.
Ironically the Beta Ti clip from Prometheus arrived a little over 3 hours ago.
Needs adjusting to fit. I couldn't possibly be less enthused right now.

/color.

The Ti clip from Prometheus was meant specifically for the diameter of the Eiger. I knew this going in and figured I’d have to do some adjusting. It was a pain but I got it dialed in pretty good.

Thank you! Honestly, Robyn should have sent out an email to me and everyone ordering an S.S. pressure switch. Letting us know regarding the issue. Never happened. Or remove the S.S. switch as an option from the drop-down menu on Peak's website. Everyone would just assume it was out of stock. Instead, I get a brass one I never wanted. Well, that's REALLY not going to color match.

Great! So, I might have completely gotten it wrong because I ordered the Beta QRV2/3 Ti pocket clip. Not the one specifically made for the Peak Eiger.

Thanks for the heads-up about that too.... Remember when businesses just dealt in simple terms. Sometimes it seems that private sellers off of eBay are the only ones who do that nowadays. I ordered an extra long titanium spoon off of eBay a few days ago. And, an extra long titanium spoon arrived.
 
Got my El Capitan a little earlier today, and regret not getting it in stainless, lol. As my first Peak, it has a generally positive impression; minus a couple points for finish quality because of chipped anodizing on the body tube towards the head, but the rest of the machining is decent. The threading is smooth and tight, but I wish the Keychain threading was a more common 1/4" for hands free gooseneck/tripod mounting.

Maybe my hands are weak, but the light necessitates 2 handed operation. That is a good thing considering mode retention and QTC, no accidental twists. In regards to the potting of the head, the positive contact nub could have been centered better during the curing process, but everything functions just fine.

The CCT seems to be around 3000k, and feels like a more yellow sst-20. the hotspot it throws is quite nice, but has corona artefacting due to the nature of the TIR. The lens is nice and clean.

All in all, maybe I'm spoiled, or maybe I was expecting too much, or maybe I should've gone with the stainless option...but it feels cheap AND quality at the same time, let me explain:

The materials used are top notch, feel durable, appear to be good quality. However, the chipped finish, off centered positive nub, in addition to a strangely comforting yet concerning bacony maple syrupy smell (light body was dirty, cleaning it with moist paper towels removed a layer of grime) presented as a whimsical/irreverent treatment of otherwise high quality materials...I suppose I'll simply use it as the tool it is intended to be, but I am slightly disappointed that the light arrived in what appeared to be in used condi

I have a SS El Capitan on the way and I'm curious as to what protected 14500 Li-ion cells I can use. Obviously, the protected cells are slightly longer than the standard AA so just want to know what works. I have attached some screenshots below of the cells I'm curious about and and why and would love some input on them and/or my assertions about each.

Lastly, I need help understanding QTC in conjunction with Max. Continuous Discharging Current (MCDC) and the affect on the LED. Is there a minimum or maximum MCDC value I should be taking note of when shopping for cells for my Peak Eiger or El Capitan? Should I limit running it at max lumens if I'm running a li-ion (running a Vapcell 10440 in my Eiger). My understanding is that it is basically running direct drive hence the importance of protected cells, I just wonder about putting in a freshly charged Li-ion sitting at 4.2v in my SS Eiger/Capitan and having the increased output negatively affect the LED. Hope this makes sense!

Lumintop 14500 USB-C 1000mah protected li-ion are the best bet as they are basically the same size as a AA battery. El Capitans in my experience are very picky on lengths. Those protected cells will more than likely be too long

I've put off ordering some...maybe time to bite the bullet lol

I actually picked up a pair of Keeppower USB-C Li-ions which are also the same length as AA battery.. I’ve found they’re a little finicky versus the longer, Keeppower 14500 without the USB-C.
I've put off ordering some...maybe time to bite the bullet lol

I'm not sure how I missed this thread.

I have a couple of peaks.

XPG-3 Warm: El Capitan Aluminum, Eiger SS with the little plunger button. (Far left, and 3rd from the left, respectively), and an Ultra head below.
519A 3500K (sent to Robyn): SS Eiger (2nd from left) and Eiger Ultra (far right).
SST-20 4000K (sent to Robyn): Eiger Ulta (4th from left), Eiger (2nd from right) - my EDC, and then one of the Ultra heads below, with the diffuser
219B: 5000K Eiger (4th from left), 4000K Eiger Ultra diffuse below. I got these from @ilikeguns40

@dc38 As you use them, they will loosen up, and you should find it easier to operate with one hand. Also, I think the smell is some of the cutting fluids and/or anti-seize they have on the threads.

The SS is much more "premium" feeling than the aluminum. The aluminum models are crazy light, but they're not like Malkoff thickness or anodizing.

For batteries:
-Weirdo 2.4V Olight one works inconsistently, so I stopped using that. It just...cuts off.
-LFP cells work GREAT in these. They don't get as hot as Li-ion, but are brighter than NiMH.
-Eneloops are mostly what I use.

I find the plunger button is REALLY HARD to use, so I'm not a huge fan. Lightly twisting a head is much easier. I mostly use the keychain body, because it's easier to get the QTC pill out if needed. The lug (without the removable part) is nice, but I am worried about if the pill needs replacing.

QTC:
I'm not super huge on it. Like half of these guys are single mode, high. I think I ordered more like that, but got QTC pills, anyway. I just use them until they become single modes. I find QTC is a bit finnicky for low modes, albeit really neat, but I mostly use these on high mode, and adjust that brightness with my cell choice.
My last order, I asked for QTC and a spare, non-QTC pill.

Prometheus clip:
It's pricey, but very, very good on an Eiger.

Heads:
I most prefer the normal Eiger head for the slim profile and decent throw.
The Ultra is a bit big for my tastes. The Ultra with the diffuser is a really interesting option.

I blame @ilikeguns40 for all this. He's about the only person that was posting images online in the last like decade.

Taking into account which topic this is, and that I own 3 or 4 Peak lights, myself.... are we looking at Peak today. Or with nostalgia from around 20 years ago? I think that might be the issue.

Why not both?

I missed the boat on the earlier, more intriguing stuff.

But, the portfolio today is mostly their "best hits" collection. The Eiger is really good, and I can see how they eventually settled on that form factor.
