Well, I don't have a DSM-IV sitting here right on my desk and it is not my place to make a diagnosis. I already said I am not an expert. But I like to think I am responsible human being who cares about the people around me. Sometimes people just need to talk. I had a customer and supplier both commit suicide over the past 10 years. One was because the guy was lonely, the other had marital problems. Like I said, everyone has a deep story. It infuriates me when neighbors say they had no idea there was any problem. Consider the story of the BTK killer. This is no laughing matter for me folks. I don't care if you think I am being overly sensitive. One human is worth much more than any risk of a momentary misunderstanding.

My spidey sense could be completely wrong about TRC, but why take the chance?


TRC, what's going on man? Is this just an isolated incident or are there other issues in your life that are frustrating you? Hopefully, this is completely out of character.

Pointless destruction is wrong. Even if you are dealing with someone who just won't listen, you need to build things up. Work with people, seek the higher solution.

I own several Arc-AAA's, as well as 2 Arc-LS's. I've given as gifts at least a dozen Arc-AAA's, (to people who don't appreciate them, for the most part).

I was having a GREAT day yesterday.....until I came home and found my long anticipated 4th gen. Arc-AAA Premium was cr@p.

Even the 'beam' was the absolute worst I have ever seen from ANY 5mm Nichia white LED: an irregular blob of angry blue, looking like 3 multilobed amoebas superimposed,(brighter and darker areas), shot through with **** green lines, surrounded by a **** green corona.

Ugly doesn't even begin to describe it.

Add all the other defects, and I doubt if you could imagine my dissapointment at paying double what this flashlight should cost, for something that Dorcy would be ashamed to market at Walmart.

Yeah, I could have shipped it back, and waited 3 more weeks for something that would almost certainly be mechanically better, but almost certainly also have a similar ugly looking 'beam'.

Or, I could have some fun.

I had a LOT of fun, while letting people know that Arc, and Peter Gransee, cannot walk on water, no matter how much people kiss up to Arc. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

But that's just my opinion, and I'm entitled to have it, just as anyone else is entitled to THEIR opinion. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

This is no different than those rare people who publicly burn/destroy their own cars because of some issue that the dealer or manufacuter hasn't remedied to their satisfaction. It's a form of protest and speech uncommon but blunt and to the point.

I don't think a group hug or therapy is really what this is all about.

Guy drops $45 on a light and he has certain expectations that aren't met and so he's not happy with what he bought.

Sure he can return it but what he if doesn't care to do so? We've all bought stuff that didn't meet our expectations that we disposed of rather than going through the RMA, correspondance and shipping process. We'd be dishonest to say otherwise. Throwing them away is not the sign of deep mental issues.


Suggesting that his dissatisfaction with your light is analagous to him having BTK like issues is way out there. Way, way out there.
 
OK, so you didn't like the light but other than that everything else is good I presume?

If you ever want a refund, etc. You know how to get ahold of me. Sorry the light didn't meet your satisfaction.

To everyone else: let this be a warning. The light is not perfect. Surprised? Where have you been?! The beam is as I said in a post here on the cpf weeks before, "the beam is typical nichia, splotchy, blueish, ringy, etc". Read it. Think. Live it.

And as far as me walking on water... Do you know me by now? I am just a guy making flashlights. Don't kiss up to me, the company, the light, my dog, etc. If you don't like me or my products move along. If you want to help me make them better, I'll try to listen. That's all we can do folks. Everything else is a fabrication in your own mind and I can't truthfully take responsibility for that.

I realize that I can't take responsibility for every aberation of human nature. It is just not my place.

I realize some may think I over reacted. I already addressed why I thought it was good to err on the side of safety in that regard. Can't read my posts? I probably can't help you. And yes, I do believe that pointless destruction is a bad sign. Some are probably on that road themselves, so they too think it is no big deal. Watch out.

There is a kind of destruction that leads to rebirth. It is ultimately constructive. That's good. But when a person starts to think there is fun to be had in pointless destruction, watch out.

Is now a good time to get back to the original subject? I hope so!

Peter... how about Nichia NSPW500CS... c0 bin instead of b12? ... warmer tint... no hint of blue i guess.. did you test that?

I m one of the person's who don't like blue .. it just gives me a HeadAche....

that's why i am so in love with snow LED's

will there be any custom offerings ???

Just exactly how many YEARS of personal experience have YOU had firing a Thompson Contender? I've been shooting one of several I've owned for almost 30 years. In 30 Herrett, mine will group 2" at 100 yards, from a benchrest, with my handloads.

Poor aim? Not from my 2-9 variable power, long eye relief scope which cost much more than the Thompson Contender itself.

Obviously, you are woefully ignorant of any and all facts when it comes to firearms in general, and Thompson Contender pistols in particular.

And I'm being EXTREMELY tactful about this, although I certainly have no reason to be, in the face of such gross and obvious ignorance. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
 
Hello Viren. Good question. Yes, I am looking at other bins. Not all are available in sufficient quantity or of the desired flux. I can tell you that at the time I order those LEDs, they were and still are the best for my goals. But still I search..

In the meantime, do you all understand what I have trying to say? The light is not perfect. Every design has a long list of compromises. If anyone claims they made something, "with no compromises", it is just fiction! I feel I picked a good set of compromises in order to make a light with a high usability index. That's my feeling. It appears it is also the sentiment of many others. However, you MUST make your own judgement.

Don't let your body be possesed by some mystical force that causes you to click on any order button that passes by.

Think about this long and hard. If I don't remind you to think, then others will claim I am trying to pull a fast one. So, I guess I need to repeat myself endlessly just so none can critizise? Is this the culture we live in? Oh btw, I should remind you guys once again that this flashlight shouldn't be eaten. Please don't sue me because of indigestion. Another thing, that was an attempt at humor. But don't take my word for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Of course I sympathize, but I am just one guy folks! What do you say to everyone else in your life? And I am speaking to the vocal minority here of course. All of you are incredible and supremely interesting people. Some are just much easier to work with.

I'm not too happy about getting my ARC-AAAs because of the fees I had to pay. This is a rant about the postal system and such but I really think there should be an option for USPS and buyer assumes all lost and maybe ship as a gift and undeclaring the value of the items. Anyways, I hope I will get over the amount of money I paid for these lights =D
 
hi Peter, just wondering when you think the time line for the uv aaa's might be and also will you be testing different types of uv leds or do you have one already in mind. thankyou
 
Goldserver, I hear you man. Yes, it bugs me too. Much has been written about this already so I apoligize if you are not up to speed with the pros and cons of shipping method. Needless to say, I believe FedEx is the best option.

And frankly, it is not desirable to me to cede responsibility of the getting my light to you. Many people have said, "let me take that responsibilty". I am sorry, I don't feel comfortable with that.

THE_dAY, the UV is planned for this year. Hopefully in time for christmas. I haven't picked an LED yet for that light. Your help is appreciated. So if you or anyone else has a suggestion of what to use, please let me know. Honestly, I am not doing much product development for the next week or so. Yes, we need to hire more people. My boss, who is a man of deep commitment and responsibilty, is cautious about hiring people. With each person comes a serious committment. Even so, I pester him constantly on the subject. He has permitted me to begin interviewing some candidates for assembly. I also really want a production manager. I can tell you, my credit with him was reinforced after a few days with the order page open. By your positive actions, you are improving our capabilities. And this comes back to you many fold. In the meantime, it's Merri and I surrounded by a bajillion of you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif We are definately putting in the hours here folks. Not every issue will be addressed to my complete satisfaction because our resources are limited. The primary thing I have been doing this week is talking to you. By email, the forums and phone calls. This is very important to me. Especially when we have a new company and a new product. In between that, I have been improving the systems we use to make, sell and deliver just the Arc-AAA.

But everyone has their own challenges in their life. We are no different.

I am going to now disengage from the forums somewhat and focus on the emails for a bit. Merri has begun assembly of the batch that should be ready to ship next week. We will be working on those same things through the weekend.

I hope if TRC ever finds his ARC that Peter would refuse any warranty claims. I think being shot out of a gun into a tree qualifies as abuse.

Yes it is different! This guy never made an effort to get satisfaction from the manufacturer.

TRC, customer satisfaction would of course be Peter's concern. He may even go beyond what is expected in endurance from one of his customers. In that, you've been treated more than deserved by him. Contrast that to CPF's treatment of you, and you'll note that we don't apparently feel a need to treat you special, particularly in light of your efforts to sabotage a thread, flame, alter thread titles in an inflammatory manner, and generally make a nuisance of yourself. Find yourself another resource for your agenda; you're gone.

For other members, please discontinue a response to TRC, in order to return the thread to it's intended purpose. He's no longer able to respond. If you make a reply to one of the altered title posts, please edit the title to it's proper state.

Uh, don't bother responding to Chevrofreak either, since he's gone too. The same will go for anyone else that chooses to deliberately destroy a thread.
