Those Earthroamers cost a fortune yet don't have proper flush toilets like any decently much less insanely expensive RVs. If I had the $ to drop on an Earthroamer I'd insist it have a toilet like a motorhome that costs a mere $250K.
Like most things, everyone has their preferences. However, there isn't a class A motorhome, Class B 4x4, or Class C 4x4 (Class b and c without some heavy mods) that will take you where the Earthroamer will. In other words, there are compromises a person will make, in reagrds to what they want to accomplish. Speaking for myself, the cassette black tank, is a small compromise. I'm not certain, but I think you can carry an extra tank. There are some great chemicals that decompose, as well as deodorise the tank, so minimal smell.
Before the following examples, dumping tanks is a messy chore. ... :)
I lived full time in a 1997 40ft Fleetwood American Eagle class A motorhome for over a decade. Traveled to, and lived on varous projects during this time. I also boondocked (live off grid) for extened stays. The reason I was to take these extended off grid camping was due to this motorhome had a
150gl diesel fuel tank (allowed me to run the genst 24/7 without having to cut it off),
100gl fresh water holding tank,
60gl grey tank, and
40gl black tank. Onan Quiet 7.5kw generator, solar panels on the roof, inverter, etc,, etc,
When on a construction project. The above specs allowed me to park the motorhome on site for a week at a time. I'll head out once a week to fill the fresh water holding tank, and dump the tanks (I used the site's portable toilets) . Then picked up supplies for the week.
All these features, and the Eagle will not take me where these 4x4's will (incuding a class b, and c).
The Earthroamer has
95gl fuel tank,
100gl fresh water holding tank, and a
40gl grey tank. As well as the equipment to take you WAY off grid for an extended adventure.
In a compact foot print.
If a person prefers a flush toilet. There are smaller alternatives, such as a class b 4x4 RV. However, average specs while staying off grib, is for shorter stays. For example;
30gl or less fuel tank(remeber, the genst is running off this fuel),
30gl freah water holding tank,
24gl grey tank, and
8gl black tank. A class b 4x4 is stil around $200K plus. However, unless a person does some exteme mods, it ain't following a Earthroamer. If they did, the person's stay is limited by the fuel, and holding tanks.
But heck, Earthroamer's a dream coach. ... :)
