In that picture of the RSR in post#3433, one would say it looks like a radiator in the front for liquid cooling.
Yes & no,, that is a dedicated oil cooler that continuously pumps cooled oil back to the flat 6.

without looking it up, that engine probably has around 8 quarts of oil in it.

I live within walking distance to Road America,, can be outside and tell you the type of car by the engine note tearing around the track.
Nothing beats the sound of a high compression, high revving air cooled flat 6
w/ basically headers out back.

I can’t agree more on the musical drone of the pan head six.
This last Sunday was cars and coffee morning at the local Porsche dealership. Saw some fantastic cars including an original F40 and a full carbon Ford GT that actually get driven.

When that picture is enlarged you can see one of the forward running tubes attached to the bottom of the shock absorbers. I think it's to add support for some high-horsepower-produced torque. I'm guessing the truck is modded for drag racing. Unfortunately, the owner was not present. I would've loved to ask him about the truck.

You can see how the paint is marred on the adjustment bracket of that anti-roll set up - he's been testing, and found his sweet spot.
Coil overs and monster exhaust, large aluminum fuel cell- he ain't playin.

Growing up we had a neighbor that owned an orange 427 Stingray with the giant side pipes.
He would blast his way up our street and my pop would roll his eyes..

One of the sons was about my age, over at their house one day I had the idea to put a tennis ball in one of the side pipes.
We were upstairs playin' and the dad started his vette, there was an almighty bang:poof:
........still wonder to this day if the tennis ball blasted through the side of the garage

was similar to this; but the side pipes were black and bigger, pointing straight out

Sweet. My dad had one in the mid 60s, but I was not old enough to ever drive it. I recall it "only" had a 350 in it, manual 4 speed, and it had a normal exhaust with side outlets capped off. Red. The split rear glass very unique. If dad, mom and both kids went somewhere in it, we just sat in the cargo area, safety be damned. My dad knew little about car mechanics, and complained about the dealer service and having to find high octane gas. A recession hit and he got a VW Beetle of all things.

Safety was an afterthought back then. I'm not even sure the Vette had seatbelts!
It probably would've been bad if dad had kept the Vette by the time I started driving. We had a Fiat 124 Sport Coupe by then, which I loved (compared to the Pontiac station wagon). I even took my drivers license exam in the Fiat (5 speed manual). A riot of a car to drive, if you overlooked the low HP, oil leaks, flaky electrics, bad paint and splitting vinyl!
