When it comes to automobiles, I have champagne & caviar tastes, but can only afford hard cider & tuna.

They're not the same ... not even close.

Weren't you the one whinin' at me about the '61 Taylor & Fladgate, back when? Okay. I see how this works ...

Me, I like a bit of champagne every other year or so. Never have liked caviar. And couldn't see living with a top-end vehicle, day in and day out, without such a security cordon around the thing that I'd be miserable. So it's probably best that "the 1%'ers" keep to their own and do what they do. I'll rest easy that the sort of vehicles a "Larry Ellison" can field a dozen of will be put to better use than in my garage.

To clarify, yes; I know the Integra isn't a sedan. But meh, close enough.

Used to have a mid to late 80's blue integra with the ugly multi-colored patchwork brown leather seats...I hated the color scheme and seating, particularly because I was a kid sitting in the back, and non-power windows... Looking back now, I wish my dad had kept it, lol.

Nah. Was funny. I proposed picking up a couple bottles of the sweet '61 Vintage Porto. You remarked you had a birthday coming up and that I was welcome anytime. My quip: "Yeah ... first thing."

Made my month, that post did. I still chuckle, even now. Never did pick up the '61. Still have a handful of decent 10-40yr bottles around, mostly tawney, some vintage. Of course, the "good stuff" isn't gettin' any younger.

In the 80s' I watched in amazement how strong a turbo V6 could be,, running at Road America.
In IMSA , the Nissan GTP prototype pulled so strong out of turn 5 it just blew me away.. never thought a turbo car could do that!!

Geoff Brabham was a favorite driver for sure w/ me

It left such an impression I bought a used '86 King Cab about a year later,
like this in red also 4x4 (my second vehicle, put 100K on it)

Is she the one in front? To my untrained eye she nailed every corner and picked up every exit lol

but I'd take that '27 NISMO Z above over a new/stock C8 Vette.
It's such a full blow drivers car, not that many anywhere under $150K

Not joking, lap times on track would be similar, depending on driver, vs the C8

=One thing I'v learned growing up at a race track, light/excellent handling cars are every bit as fast (lap after lap) as waaay bigger engined cars
.... seen it in person from an early age.

Lighter cars don't wear tires as quickly either and that may be most important.

When I say 'as fast' I'm talking about lap times at a race track ( say Mid Ohio, Road America, Laguna Seca ect.)
Big motor car will pull away on straits, lighter cars will make up that ground under braking, carry speed around the corner faster
Ultimately, having very similar lap times.
Less to slow down and speed up,, over & over, lap after lap===== then there are the tires

There's so much that goes into what makes a car fast, engine is about 1 of 20 factors (a very important one though)

side note: I'v driven an air cooled 911 couple times.
It has long throw shifts, the clutch pedal is long, and the rear of the car wants to trade places with the front.
but once you understand its strengths & master it, you'd be blown away how well it does at a race track
