It will be easier to split once it has dried out for several months. I think 8-10 months is a good drying time. As said above, cover the top of the pile and leave the side open to the breeze.Ive read that do i just cut it into log size and let it dry? Do i cover it?
Green wood doesn't burn as nicely as dried wood does, it pops and smokes, and generally is unpleasant compared to dried wood. It will burn, but not as readily, and not as "nicely". IMO.I should mention this wood wont be burned inside it will be for my outside fire pit its a smokless one does it still need to be aged
