To my fellow CPFers,

It's been a wonderful 22 and a half years I've spent here. I've enjoyed the many interesting subjects we've discussed, and have learned many new things. Not just facts, but things about myself from our candid discussions.

I've mentioned my recent loss of funds from an investment scam. The situation has gotten a lot more complicated now but I'm not at liberty to discuss anything since I have law enforcement involved. The bottom line is I'm all out of money and my electric, Internet, and phone is going to be turned off within a few days. For how long I have no idea. I was unsuccessful getting them to keep everything on.

Hopefully this will just be a hiatus and not the end. I look forward to getting back here once all my financial problems are resolved but this may take many months or even years.

Thank you everyone for the companionship.

Hope things improve for you i think about stoping internet but its my only socail contact.i cut everything else somedays suck when the sun aint out my solar stops so powerbill goes up.im on flat rate but i still need touse as little as posable like 8 kwh a day.things will improve for you life has good days and bad

I hope this turns out to be a very temporary bump in the road, and that you'll be back soon.
I'm hoping the same. The ICO launches in a few weeks, basically as soon as they raise $15 million total. They're up to nearly $14,760,000 as of today. That might be what saves me.
Hey, you're gonna get thru' this mate. If you need a place to stay ... uhm, I'm not socialistically inclined but I do have a room. Better than the curb. Just DM
Thanks for the offer but I'll try to keep from losing the house. I'm working on at least coming up with the real estate taxes due at the end of June. When times are happier maybe I'll take a train ride to you for a visit. I always wanted to see the other coast. The friend who also got scammed lives in San Francisco so I could see her as well.

I'm using 8 to 10 kW-hr per day also. Wish me luck that I can get through the next few weeks/months. I have a feeling things will be much better after that.

No offense, but if your siblings insist on holding onto their stakes in the house, and dreaming of early retirement.... time to let them know they need to pay their fair share of the money needed to cover the real estate taxes at the end of the month. Time for them to pay up as part owners.

I totally agree. In fact if the house had to be sold then I'm deducting 2/3rds of what I spent on real estate taxes, home insurance, electric, and fuel oil from the proceeds before giving them their share. Those four things are the essential expenses of home ownership. And I'll also deduct 2/3rds of the $25,000 I spent on a new roof and gutters last year.

I have a little good news today. A person I haven't done business with in several years came today to discuss a new project. I got a $1,000 advance and it looks like over the next few months, once the project is designed and tested, I'll make a lot more. He needs 50 of these to start, more later.

Now I'm seeing if this is enough to at least keep the power on. I dread the prospect of no A/C on a day like this. 😓

Congrats on the new business opportunity.

I was actually out there a couple of hours ago. Quick walk to the Pizza place to buy dinner. No humidity, today. But I felt like I was walking through a planet-sized oven, considering the heat. Danger of heat-stroke far too high to be sitting at home with no A/C.

After the massive Blackout of 2003, I went out and bought a huge job-site fan. It can be plugged in, or run off of D-cell batteries. You should see how many D-cells I've stocked up on, just in case.

It wasn't Napoli at 164th Street and 69th Avenue by any chance, was it? Great pizza.

I would probably build my own big rechargeable LiFePO4 battery to run a fan like that for an extended period.

If you lose power at your house a library computer might be a possibility for an occasional check-in on the internet.
I bought myself another month with the $1,000 I made today. Actually they only needed $700, so I have $300 left to buy food. Hopefully in a month I'll start getting some regular money from this new project. Then I can just bring everything up to date.

I may still lose phone/TV/Internet but that's less of a problem. My neighbor will let me borrow his WiFi if that happens. I get a good signal from my place. I've already told anyone who may have need to call me to just email me instead.

Afraid not. Don't want to mention its name because the owners are greedy pigs with their pricing. Though forced to admit, the food, especially the pizza, is really good.

Might not be a bad idea to construct one. If I had the skills to do so, I would have.

If you already have 18v or 40v Ryobi tools one of the Ryobi Hybrid Air Cannon fans would be a good purchase. They can run off AC or pop a battery on for quite a while of air blowing. I have a 14" 18v one. The largest ONE+ battery I have is 4 amp-hour but they go up to 12. 40V also tops out at 12AH but the watt-hours are more so a 40v fan would run longer.

This fan is unreal, yes you need 20v Craftsman batteries
