So, I got in an amber headlamp from Sportac, the PH10LC2. I know the Zebralight headband is (rightly) unpopular, and Sofirn used to use a similar style to ZL. Those are just floppy, and tend to roll on themselves if you try to adjust it.

I have the hilarious "turn ANY flashlight into a headband" velcro thing Malkoff sells (that's actually pretty good, honestly), so at this point, I am a bit of a goofy headband connoisseur.

This Sportac one really surprised me. It's a shock cord headband (I kind of like those), but then there's a sleeve for the shock cord, and then an elastic loop for the headlamp itself.

There's a small elastic keeper that is ostensibly to hold the excess cording, but I have an XL sized head (7 3/4 hat size), and there's no hope of the excess reaching that little keeper, so I just have this random "rat tail" of shock cord dangling on the back of my head.

It works better than I expected, but there's a LOT of "freeplay" movement of the sleeve along the shock cord, and the up/down rotation of the headlamp is almost free movement.

The absolute oddest part is that the adjuster isn't oriented in line with the upper and lower shock cords, but ONLY on the top/bottom one. So, when you tighten it all, you're not pulling two sides closer, but you're pulling a single, solitary cord tighter, which then "switches back" on itself near the front. This means, it tends to slide in the oversleeve, and you end up with a very uneven amount of cord on each end.

Here's a picture from a listing for this:
