More years ago than I can remember, I needed a cordless drill to install many many mini blinds. Since all of the work was going to be overhead, I wanted the smallest one I could find that had a belt hook and could also stand upright.
This was my choice and second cordless tool.

OK, It's not a DeWALT, but it is the right color, cordless, and it's awesome!

That's interesting. I think both are good brands. You're good for now, but I have heard rumors that Lowes is getting rid of their entire Kobalt line in favor of FLEX.
Sounds like you and your friend both lucked out, in different ways. 👍👍Well, with winter well on the way (already 10 cm of snow in the back yard), we opted for a grass trimmer. Of course, the web shops NOW decide to throw a sale on them...
I was initially looking at either the DeWalt DCMST561 or the DCM561 18V XR (difference being the DCMST is foldable), but with a 40 % discount we settled on the 54V FlexVolt DCM5713 instead.

Checked out a few reviews, and the TL;DR (or TL;DW) was "get DCM5713" - with the long version being "DCM5713 is better than DCM561 in every way". DCM5713 also seem to support multiple attachments, like various cutting blades, which was an unexpected bonus.
And I finally got rid of the used one time Bosch GSA120 reciprocating saw! I just had to throw in more things than I expected to get a good friend of mine to finally accept the deal. So he got about $600 worth of things for $400... Most of the stuff I threw in were either old, but in good condition (various hand tools), or things I couldn't or didn't want to use, like several pairs of brand new quality work gloves too large for my hands (which I knew he either could use or didn't have at all). Still, he sure got the better part of that deal.
So the DeWalt DCS386 18V/54V FlexVolt Advantage reciprocating saw has been ordered, and is expected to arrive on Monday. ❤️

EDIT:
Just noticed the 40 % discount on the trimmers apparently had to be a mistake. Got a price adjustment notification yesterday - and completed the order yesterday - but today, there is no discount at all on most of the models, and only 20 % on some. I have received the receipt, so I guess I lucked out.
True dat.Sounds like you and your friend both lucked out, in different ways. 👍👍
Welcome to CPF.Choosing a power tools platform can definitely feel like a big commitment since batteries and tools are often brand-specific. For me, I've started using pdnation batteries, and it's been a game-changer. They're designed to work with multiple tool brands using compatible adapters, which means I'm no longer locked into just one platform.
For example, I can run my Milwaukee tools and DeWalt tools off the same pdnation battery setup. It's saved me a lot of money on batteries and opened up my options when picking the best tool for a specific job. If you're stuck choosing between brands, looking into cross-compatible solutions like this might be worth it.
Ceenr has released Ryobi adapter, along with an 8.0Ah battery option (No listed price yet, though, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what the cost looks like.Good news. Someone is putting in the effort. A company called Ceenr. Take any brand's battery and use a special adapter to run it on power-tools made by other brands (not Ryobi though). Apparently a new project that will cover a bunch of brands at first. We'll see how successful they are.
