Yes. There is a chance.
But first I will have to see a doctor because this election is lasting too long. At least that is what I think I am supposed to do when you can't get rid of an election.

Is that the Darksucks clip? Been wondering if I should get one for my 18650 Executive. The HDS decorative clip doesn't have quite as much retention as I'd like on the 18650 body (even after trying to bend it a bit).

I have a dark sucks, its awesome, tight and secure. Could always take off and bend your HDS to make it tighter, thats what I did to make my DS clip tighter.
 
In current HDS lights, can the reflector be separated from the reflector assembly? Looking at it and it seems like it's pressed in there tight. Someone had mentioned removing it to make an HDS mule...or mule like...just wondering if this is actually doable.

Yes, that's the dark sucks / prometheus clip. It's just about perfect on all HDS body sizes in my opinion.

Johnny,

The reflector has threads on top and bottom. Maybe not in this order but you thread the reflector into the head of the light then screw the bezel with inserted lens onto the reflector. So without the reflector, there is no way to attach the bezel.

Yes, thanks for the reply! what I'm talking about is the actual reflector itself, the sliver part of double-threaded reflector body...is it a separate piece or is it machined as one piece?

The reflector assembly is one piece, threads and reflecting cone.

The biggest issue is not the reflector being in the way. Even if the reflector was out of the way, from the emitter to the lens is over half of an inch. You wouldn't really get the desired effect or look. You would have to find a way to bring the emitter towards the lens, that would take quite a bit of modification.

Yea, was just wondering about a comment I saw on another thread where a person was looking for a pocketable small mule and someone suggested removing the reflector from an HDS to create what the OP was looking for...started my wheels turning! I have an unused reflector and was looking at it pondering just what they were suggesting...now I'm wondering what the beam would look like if one removed the reflective material...

The only way to get a "mule" effect is by installing a diffuse reflector. I have the firefly and it's amazing paired up with the SS40.

I had a Double Beryl reflector that put out a what I would describe as wide circle of light (no hot-spot but with a fairly defined edge). A true mule will have no easily discernible edge to the beam. Just a wide and very diffuse blanket of light.

Well, curiosity took over and I removed the reflective coating from that old spare reflector...looks a lot like the beam from the DB diffuse reflector...I no longer have the DB so can't tell you difference in lux but it is a circle of light, defined edge, with a very slight hot spot. The circle obviously comes from the emitter being (as stoneking points out) down there over a half an inch...now that I've ruined the reflector (for science!) I'm thinking to paint the cone with white primer, grab some strontium glow powder, mix it with a clear oil paint and try to paint on a glow reflector on there. Might be interesting!
