Help with broken Surefire

Help Support Candle Power:

What year do you think the light was produced? If I’m correct D means Pro with two levels. Can you see if it’s the latest 600 lumen version? Also include a picture where you see the led.

Hello, I'm in the same boat except I have a driver that failed. If you're comfortable, and don't mind a pain in the A reinstall, you can tap out the driver and the underside should have a year of manufacture right on the board. Reinstall can be difficult. Here is mine as an example.

The light is on its way to SureFire. I paid $12 for shipping, and they will cover the return shipping. It’s definitely worth $12 to have it fixed. It will be interesting to see whether they repair it, replace some parts, or send a completely new light. Hope they fix the smooth tail cap boot as well. Their customer support has been really great. I own around 30 SureFire lights, so I’ve supported them quite a lot as well.

That's awesome buddy. Been following this thread like "Yeah I have no idea how to fix one of those but I hope it gets squared away." Good luck dude, let us know how you make out.

It’s quite beaten up but I guess it should handle that. I’m located in Europe so not so easy to send to Surefire. Do Surefire cover the freight back?
Likely not.
If the light has no sentimental value, check how much it will cost to get it shipped to SureFire, fixed, then shipped back. Sad to say but, it might cost more money than just buying a brand new one.

Sorry to say, but that SF model was very recently discontinued I believe.

I paid $12 for tracked shipping to SureFire, they will cover the freight back to me. A new GX2 Pro in Europe is $160. The main concern is all the complicated customs documents to sent it to USA. SureFire helped with the documents and reviewed them before shipping so hopefully everything is okay. It’s really much more complicated to send to the USA now, for a long time the post office refused to send to USA because so many packages come back.

Don’t worry about weird tracking notices, they’re not always accurate!

My Kosen parcel (US-UK) is currently in Switzerland according to Royal Mail, this is because Asendia use Swiss Post and Swiss tracking numbers (ending CH). If I check the Asendia tracking page it shows it’s still being processed in the USA.

I assumed it was the country of Jamaica but maybe not. I’m sure it will arrive safe sometimes next week. Just thought it was funny when I received the notification about Jamaica. Just received another message about delays because the Sandy wildfire in California.
