Gonna try something for fun here. I will be going through all of my keychain lights and using them as my only light for one week. That will include keychain duty and any other flashlight use around the house. This is just for fun and so that I use these lights instead of having them sit around, and also to challenge my preconceived notions of what I need/works best for me. Lights that will be auditioning are......
Photon II with warm Yuji
Fenix E01 original
Fenis E01 V2
Oilght i3e
Olight I3e modded to 519a and 15 lumens
Olight i1r 2
Threw all the lights on a keyring and had my daughter randomly pick one out to start with. First up will be the Fenix E01 v2. Just slapped it on my keychain and we will let the auditions begin here. 🔦View attachment 75974

Well this audition could be over quickly. E01 V2, while not overly exciting, is just a good solid light. I like the output spacing and the low, med, high with no memory. Would it be better with a Nichia? Sure. But it works. On the keys when I leave the house, and in the pocket when at home. I'll continue using nothing else for the week. Good light, but I do prefer the size and body style of the i3e.

We’re bonding but it ain’t easy! Had a Skilhunt E3A show up today asking for attention as well! I also decided that I’m doing this WRONG. This should just be an audition for KEYCHAIN duties. Trying to do the one light for everything is going to lead to obvious issues when it comes to the single mode high output lights. (Thread title adjusted accordingly) Also I don’t have the patience to use just one for a solid week when there are new lights waiting in the wings….... don’t judge me. This is my own silly idea for a thread anyways. So I’ll keep on auditioning without any set timeframes or limitations. I will say that anyone in need of a AAA Multimode light could do much worse than the E01 V2. I like it. Score: 7.2. If it had a lower low and a better led it would be in the high 8s. Not to mention the ridiculous badging/warnings all over the light. Going to give this Skilhunt a run next.

No judgment here. I'm curious to see how it goes!

It is amazing to see how they wanted to turn a small light into a billboard. I smell lawyers.

I have 3 keychain lights. I have a very nice NC Tini 200 lumen light. I have a SF Titan and I have the tiny Olight ios. The best of the 3? The dirt cheap Olight. It is tiny. It doesnt come on in my pocket by accident. Both the NC and the SF can and will turn on in your pocket. At least the SF has a pocket clip. The SF is a perfect little pocket light but has no business on a keychain. The NC is VERY impressive. That being said this thing will press on and off as you walk and drain the battery. The NC needs a pocket clip. Thus...my opinion is the tiny Olight. It does NOT turn on in your pocket only when you do it yourself. Sorry the pics are a bit blurry. But yes the dirt cheap Olight never comes on unless you specifically twist it on. The Nitecore is on the fritz. The oled display only comes on when it is being charged. Other than that it just no longer comes on. Going to send NC an email about it. Then the grand 300 lumen keychain champion SF Titan. Sure it is built like a tank but it twists on and off like crazy on a keychain. I do carry it but only by its pocket clip even THEN it will occasionally come on in my pocket.

Edit to add that the little E3A Skilhunt is suuuuuuuuuper tight. No way that light will turn on in your pocket.

Nice! I always liked the size and look of those little keychain nuggets. The Muyshondt Aeon was a cool lookin' light as well. Add a pic if you can @troutpool :buttrock:

It's my most carried and arguably onebof my most versatile lights. Car door, home door, car engine, trunk, general bumps in the night...if only it came in high CRI lol.

This one is an older one, so the magnet isn't as strong, but with the newer ones, they feel MUCH more secure. Instead of a firm peel away feeling, it's more of a very firm pluck feeling now.

Pretty cool. May have to try one some time. Looks like overall length is just a bit shorter than an E3a or i3e. PS, still blown away by the door hinge lights. 🤓
 
ROTATE! Switching it up and going with the Skilhunt E3A that showed up yesterday. Very small, very solid feeling, and very tight threads. Went with cool white to compare against a stock i3e and kinda cheating cause I added my Photon II with warm Yuji led. Used this morning for keyhole location on front door, car and when I got to work. Flipping bright! Maybe too bright, at least for those tiny chores. Will use it for dog walking tonight where the brightness will be more appreciated. Side note….i love Eneloops. 😍

I had forgotten that they made a Mini in CR2. God those were great lights.
I had an Atom in CR2 that was even tinier -- never should have given it up. I saw that Vinh is selling one and was very tempted but...resources not infinite.

I looked at these the other day. Looks like 1mm shorter than Olight i3e, and 10 lumens brighter? Runtime commensurately shorter, I suppose. I think the i3e is already brighter than it should be for a general purpose light, but some people take a dim view of my preferences....

Proof that enlightenment comes more from consistent runtime, and not inflated lumens. The torch which stays lit until the end is the most useful torch.
