Dammit dcaprilia, you're making me look bad.

run4jc, I was just looking at your new userpic and I'm curious: are the 3mm LEDs in the LS27 really that warm?

The wood in the cabinet the light is sitting on tends to make everything I photograph look slightly warmer and my LS27 is as bright and shiny a titanium as you'll ever see, but - case in point:

See how that looks almost tinted bronze? I suppose the wood is affecting the white balance of the camera...

Check these two out - same light in both photos:

Having said that, the LEDs ARE warmer than the Lunasol 20 - in fact, if the two were photographed side by side the LS27 (at least mine) made the LS20 look almost blue - the 3 Nichias and the center emitter versus the 6 Nichias/center emitter.

And I don't suppose the camera's white balance can really throw off the tint of the emitters that much...here's a larger version of my avatar:

And a link to an even larger version

Hope this helps!

I got my first McGizmo this week.

Sundrop XR-U with the 365nm UV engine.
It's primary use will be curing uv reactive adhesive.
I need a compitable LE so I can use it for edc, so if anyone have a spare shoot me a pm I would prefere a high cri led like the original nichia.

Showoff. :p

You're making me want an LS27 now, and I don't even like the 27mm heads.

Aw, shucks....:o

I was shocked at how much more of the same 'goodness' the LS27 had compared to the LS20 - and how much warmer and brighter. I loved the LS20 and would have liked to have kept it, but it went bye bye - back to its former owner. And when I have the urge for that 'oh so cool' PD interface functionality and uniqueness that you described so eloquently over here (outstanding explanation of the reason the PD remains so endeared by so many, BTW), I reach for the LS27.

The flood is about twice the flood of the LS20 (that I had) and is considerably warmer, but the combination of the center beam and the Nichias is awesome - and warm. And darn near as bright as the Haiku (based upon my 'real world review' over here, about 94% of the brightness of the Haiku XP-G, both on 'high.'

So while I loved that LS20, it was a shelf queen, and the funds are now being used for a BB Haiku XP-G and a heart transplant for my PD-S - soon it will be a Ti PD-XP-G!!

But the LS27 is staying with me. I hope my economic situation never forces me to sell it, 'cause it is, IMHO, the epitome of both 'cool' and 'useful.'

Darn. I did it again. Let my verbosity out of its cage!! :ohgeez:

lovecpf

Can't help myself. The family changed - and today arrived one of the most beautiful McGizmos I have seen yet. Thought I preferred the 'plain' titanium - still like it - maybe still even like it best - but this darn BB Haiku XP-G that I just ripped open - whoa.

So the family now is:

Haiku XP-G
Bead Blasted Haiku XP-G (soon to become a safe queen!)
Lunasol 27 - currently riding on a C Pak
Sundrop XP
Sundrop XR-U
Ti PD-S (in datiLED's hands being transformed into a Ti PD-XP-G)
2x123 Ti McClicky Pak - hosting a Creemator head
L1 Dumb Mule Head

New family photos forthcoming...but for now...

just had to post a few photos of the new BB - the light -- and the CLIP - are amazing

The emitter is PERFECTLY centered in this one!

And the entire family, minus the L1/Mule, Creemator/McClicky (they are not 'thoroughbred McGizmos, you know?) and the PD-S - it's off away becoming a PD XP-G!
L-R - Sundrop XP, Haiku XP-G BB, Lunasol 27, Sundrop XR-U, Haiku XP-G, PD Pak...

"Honest, dear, I NEEDED another one! Really!"

Yes it does look like Jedi sword, and Haiku's absolutely beautiful.

Ti-Jet reminds me of lightsaber, too. Even though it's not McGizmo.
