Storm Checkin

Help Support Candle Power:

Doing fine. Helene ended up mostly being being a nothingburger, here. My yard got messy, and some roads closed due to trees falling. I never even lost power, which usually happens during normal thunderstorms. But, I could drive an hour West, and find scenes making me wonder if news agencies just used stock footage after big storms for warzone reporting. Milton's surrounding pressure differences seem to be causing some random wind gusts, up here, in middle GA, but that looks like all we'll see of that.

Good luck to all the Floridians. Your state is getting full coverage, this year.

Duluth, GA (NE Metro Atlanta) here - Helene brought a lot of wind and rain, flooding, downed trees, etc. like a lot of other places, but I feel blessed. Only lost power a few times for a few minutes and no flooding even though we are near the Chattahoochee River. Got to use a BOSS and an HDS but not for long.

Milton brought us nothing - not even clouds. Has been sunny all week. I've been sadly watching the news and sending good thoughts to those in Asheville and FL.

Thank you Mister Ed for checking in on us. Best forum ever.

We lost power and internet at our house for about 8 days and about 20 trees fell between our driveway and pavement (about 1 mile). And our lake went up about 2.5 feet. It was the highest anyone has ever seen the lake. I even paddleboarded down the dam overflow. It was crazy.

We are all good now. Life is mostly back to normal, except the downed trees by the side of the road.

All good here!
We are in the Dallas area, well North East of town. Unfortunately close enough for the realtors to call it an exurb area. We still see it as a "bedroom community" that is a great place to live and worth the commute time to raise your children away from all the gang problems.
I lived in Georgia and Florida many years. One of the problems with becoming a Senior is that all my best friends in that part of the nation have passed away some time ago.

Thank you kind sir, for checking in on me. I’m up in Alberta Canada. We just have had a stupid hot summer along with a whole bunch of needless to say checkerboard affect vapor trails from airplanes followed by a day or two later extremely bad hail, storms or thunder storms. We’re just a bunch of rain and the classic below zero in the middle of summer.

What a honor Mister Ed. I am at SoCal, so I have no effect on hurricanes and storms. But like other member said, my heart goes out to people who were suffered. Please stay strong and united. Thanks.
