What watch you're wearing?

Check the panther version, I would say as a daily G, unless it’s MIP(memory in pixel) avoid mostly as unless the lighting conditions are 4000-7000k in daytime, low light makes it a must to either use backlight or angle to get a reading. Negative does look cool (subjective) but for a daily can wear thin.
Correct, the 5600 I had which is the lightest G(will put a pic in) even had titanium tiny screws, just that attention to detail drew me to that particular square . But they are just too small for me .
JDM as with seiko and other brands, are always more popular to watch buyers. Even though G shocks can be made in Thailand, china and obv to the same socks, Japanese are always more desirable . Also only the higher end MRG and MTG are Japan made (sure the limited GWG ones are too…)

The 9400 is (I run and am in many G groups, use to frequent watch u seek as well under ven) and many agree with my opinion. Its the best bang for buck G shock made, its triple sensor, its well priced, its also a gateway G imo. It gives people a taste of higher end Gs for a lower end cost.
Keep an eye out for mint used (people like me) who rotate and infrequent wear them). They are as good as new, all packaging and usually the tags as well for 2/3 the cost. Sometimes less so it’s like why have 2 new Gs when you can have 3 as good as new Gs! Look exact same are same just someone bought and stored , usual if solar keeping battery topped up!
Start with the carbon 5600 JDM lightest G, think about 40g, rest are fun ones and to show I just don’t have black Gs😂.
Shows the carbon easier on this model

This is the 56, nick named the king as it’s the largest square made. Quite a chunk if one likes a large G and square ones. This is a JDM rescue king, negative display doesn’t look too bad as its angle slightly to catch light. Low light then the nice green backlight is a must.

MRG at top end, MTG sit bellow, this is the MTG B3000. Lovely G and actually small, or smaller than typical masters. Wears slim, more dressy, a posher G , prices vary from £800-…..well limiters can easily past £2k
As the analog frogs, the MTG(MRG also) have independent servo driven hands . Some do a midnight dance, others when fist setting via BT is great to see. The hands can moth on either direction. So the hour, minute, second can move clock or anti clock all in the quickest way to correct time. There are YouTube vids(will link one actually) as something are said easier in pictures of videos 😀
Also all analog frogs do this regardless MRG or the standard variants . Hands move to see dials easier when selected through modes.

This was take a while back and just come across it whilst looking for other pics. An outdoor themed indoor shot for a G shock….contradiction in a picture.

Back to the 9400, one of the best Gs on the planet. Careful looking can easily find a minter for sub $200.
If not seen, extraction on Netflix , pretty good action film but a lot of 9400 in it, in the green attire which I would also recommend. The 9400 has many iterations, the Hong Kong fire department being one of the more sort after, followed by the stunning white button. Love Sea and earth also have some beauty’s, If not check those 9400’s out. Yes more bucks, but you won’t loose money ! (Well as long as don’t pay too crazy to start with).

If ever struggle sourcing any, I’m UK as you know, more than happy to help ship to you, all it costs is what it costs. Done it a few times over the years. Cheers ven

Ps-apologies for auto incorrect word no doubt littered through the post, so annoying!

I’m not big on negative displays or MIP. The standard one (colour) suits me.

I’ve seen the titanium/carbon square where you can see the carbon but it’s not my cup of tea either.

Never thought I’d like the squares but I’ve got right into them, the less blingy ones that is. I agree about the small factor but I don’t mind that.
I’ve got a medium sized wrist (7.75”) and will happily wear a 36mm analogue right up to a big honking dive watch or G Shock so the square is ok with me.

I’ve got a couple of Japanese made Casio which are very nice but I’m ok with the GW9400 made in Thailand.

I can see how Casio is a brand that can be a real worm hole to get into. I don’t have nearly as many as you but I honestly can’t remember how many Casio I have at the moment which says enough.
The GW9400 being the only one that could get me currently.

Snow!
Man, it’s going to be 40 degrees Celsius here on Saturday and between there and low 30’s and rising the rest of the week leading up to.

Show off😜
Think lowest here is around -5 to -7, up north Scotland (not yet ) but can get -20’s🥶 all be it rarely.
Day time this week forecast showning around freezing or 1 degree above. After Friday though, should warm up to 4oC🔥🔥🔥🔥😂

Agree, I’ve also many Thailand models, doesn’t bother me one bit. I buy the G for design/looks then believe it not, functions comes lover down. I rarely use features other than the barometer. If possible I have that on the screen all the time other than the big GPRB1000. Not anything major and prefer it on the screen, just seems to eat battery quicker on that model. As in drops a bar in about 3 months (I’m weird and saying this will be changing the face for a different display next wear). But the basic on that model is easy on the eye (older eyes prefer large digits!)
9400 is a cracker , again in my humble opinion one of the greatest G shocks ever made for the money. Defo a must have for any G shock enthusiast to adventurer to simply wanting one of the best G shocks on the planet 👌🏻

I’m actually a bit jealous. I don’t love the heat like I used to.

Several years ago I had to look after a British soldier I was on exercise with in my neck of the woods. He had all his stuff on plus body armour etc and got taken down by the heat. It was winter!
He was fine.

It’s talk like that which makes my wallet nervous.
I’m more of a park adventurer these days but I don’t mind a bit of compass and barometer action etc on a watch either.

I’ve actually got one watch with all that gubbins. A Protrek.
What do you reckon about the protrek line? Haven’t noticed any in your pics.

I got keen for an analogue ABC and a lot of the G range Casio felt a bit like I was looking into the display case back of a mechanical watch when looking at the dial 😄

Went with the PRW-51C-1JF.

One thing that I've never understood...is the largeness of the G's a functional design choice? I imagine that the watches could lose about 60% of their mass or bulk and still be just as tough/functional...i'd like for casio to dip their toes into a more quickly fading market...G-shock, the Gentlemen (G-Men) lineup. They KIND of tested it with the metal octagons, but never went IN...

"Whether you're in the field, fighting for the ones you love, or making the first of....many impressions; in a world where looks can kill, and every situation is a battle...dress smart, fight smarter. The G-Men collection"

And the whole commercial could start with a lightning flash and a slow pullback zoom from a Gshock on the wrist of a dude in full kit, he ends up jumping out of a chopper on a stormy night, but subtle focus on his Gmen wach, and rounds a corner into a transition to where he's buttoning up a classy suit with a soft but extended pan across his G-man watch, engrossed inconversation with dignitaries in the lobby of an expensive hotel, where he catches the eye of an attractive woman. As he excuses himself and scoops a couple of champagne flutes from the tray of a passing server, he approaches the woman for another scene transition with a hard zoom in and out to his watch, to a nighttime poolside scene where they're leaning on a low collonade wall. The camera slowly zooms out and pulls back into the bedroom, and is on top of a side table, where the focus blurs and the collection of Gshocks (Gmen) come into focus in soft warm candlelight.

I nominate @ven to be the main actor.

The GPR B1000 is a one off G , think 2018-2019 and stopped making, There is an interesting strip down of the £800 G shock and it’s very impressive the quality of parts and details you never see. I think in part it was probably a reason to stop making, I think (my opinion not fact) it was too expensive to make . Sapphire, ceramic back for the charger which clicks onto the watch back, carbon straps, GPS built in (not latest and greatest back then) and the general build . I can see more than the original asking price . Where as many other Gs I can kind of see or not at all. It’s the only G shock imo that was too cheap , certainly compared to some today what are prices at that point. (9400 still best bang for buck though ).
It is solar, once down to 2 bars the GPS will stop or limit and make sure you can’t not tell the time and use other features (can be used with phone as well as solely ). But the solar won’t fully charge the G shock, it keeps it ticking (figure of speech).

Too add it’s on the original battery so it’s now 7yrs old. A big battery it is too and that’s what I watched the video for, not an easy change compared to many other solar age.

It still holding up very well, but that would play a part in dropping a bar(still not bad 1 bar out of I think 4 ) in 3 months with barometer running 24/7. I’ve probably had it on the standard time screen over 12 months and it’s still full bars. I’ve not done any proper testing so it’s all rough , kind of thing you notice a little but don’t really look into it any more .

If bored or a little interested, have a watch

G shock do have it all covered, I can’t think of another manufacturer anywhere as close, for colour, design and size options under one brand.
MTG are tough, also not large and bulky , sure the MTG B3000 is around 11mm thick.
But squares, the 5610 so the solar version (none solar 5600) are small and suit many wrists .
G shocks are about tough, tool watch, go anywhere , they even do a TLC limited on several versions. Toyota Land Cruiser….we all know tough reliable and go anywhere with that particular vehicle . With one of the strongest reputations world wide. (Think old amazons)

Casioaks are small, these also come in metal versions. Want tough and bulk but not huge, mudmans, rangemans, many many options.

For me, I want bulk and large, no idea why. But when I throw my seiko 009 on, I do feel like im wearing a ladies dress watch…..and that’s a 42mm . But as with anything it’s what your use to. I’ve worn autos for a while and Gs felt huge at first, like a new hair cut, might not suit or look right to you at first or others…..growing a moustache or beard . However few days (or weeks with a beard) later it becomes the normal . You would look weird without said…

Luckily we are spoilt for choice and there will be a perfect G (or any watch) for everyone .

A great source of all things G and info of dates, sizes, editions is G central. Top chap who owns/runs it. He is in many of my groups .Takes a little time to learn the site , but it is an encyclopaedia of G shocks , history of, editions of.

In the forces, be it police, military, popular Gs vary a little. 6900 are a well worn option, of course 5600/5610 squares, some 9400. Odd even the larger mudmasters and gravity masters. But cost plays a factor as does size. So more wear a 6900 than a gwg1000. Many wear even cheaper ones, $60 ones as they get beat up and hammered

The day that a masculine Gshock is released in under 10mm thickness at around 41mm in diameter with a 22mm lug width, I think I'd be in for that one, lol...my favorite form factor watch right now is the Tsukiyomi AT from CitIzen, but upon further reflection, the dial is just too busy and...cookie cutter. There's small design and aesthetic changes I would make, including removing the non-chronometer pushers and opting instead for a selector pinpress button, the stupid "TITANIUM" and "RADIO CONTROLLED" and "NORTH/SOUTH" lettering by the moon phase, the "full/empty" lettering in favor of a bar, and somehow lumed the moon phase. I would also have opted for the dark purple edition had it been available in the States at the time...

G specs are not always an accurate representation to on the wrist . The mudman 9300 sounds a good option , it wears small and not as bulky as specs suggest. Wears small.
Casioaks GA-B2100-1AER their six size is larger than your requirements , but I can tell you they are small!!!Thats why so popular , many who have a smaller than average wrist , love those or simply want a G that can wear under the sleeve.
Back to the mudman 9300, bulky, masculine , but mine wears small. See if I can find a pic , my wrist is about 7 n 3/4” max
GWN1000 is awesome, bulky but not HUGE

my wrist is about 7 n 3/4” max
Mine is around 7.25", 7.5"ish with swelling.
Here's how the 43mm garrison, the square, and the CasiOak look on my wrist...

As you might be able to tell, my forearms/wrists are a little rounder than flat, at between 39 and 43mm seems to be right around the sweet spot for me...if there were an inexpensive (sub $500) Gshock that could be both classy AND rugged, around 41mm and less than 10mm thick, I'd probably be all in on it. And forget the resin bands and case, FKM with some super thin shock resist layering under a Ti case would work just fine.

Think my wrists are square 😂 as in next pic, thick as are wide🤷🏻‍♂️

GBP160 just for the band! That’s almost the cost of the entire watch where I’m looking.

I just checked and the black one is about GBP38.
About £70 ish for black cf band, however for the desert camo

There are of course after market options for much less, but no thanks. Genuine only and spent the same on bracelets, the Q1000 links I needed cost me an arm and a leg. The bracelet for the gpw1000 (that has cf bands as standard but limited have bracelets) cost me all things considered, a reasonable £130
